A brilliant ball of flame streaked across the sky above the Spanish capital Madrid, dazzling stargazers and astronomers alike. The celestial display was so bright it could be seen across the entire country. The eye-popping moment was caught on camera by the Hita Observatory at the University of Huelva at around 11:45pm local time (21:45 GMT). The object struck the atmosphere above the Villamuelas district in the province of Toledo, southwest of Madrid.

This is a great video, has anyone else heard/seen anything about it?

Thats incredible, very similar to the Russian comet the way it exploded into a ball of light!
When did this happen, last night?

Thanks for sharing it.

I think if something like that happened close enough to me, I would need to go clean myself up. I am a sky watcher but have always had a deep fear of the entire planet being wiped out from something "Up There".

Beautiful none the less.
