Bring our tendencies off-world, only to delay the inevitable? If humanity died out right here, at least the leftover mess wouldn't be as widespread.

This is a crazy statement humanity has survived for way over 1000 years without much problem does Hawking know something we don't because I think 1000 more will be no problem

We have nuclear weapons now. It's a good thing that the crazy Europeans 1000 years ago weren't able to use nukes during crusades, otherwise we probably wouldn't exist anymore, or at the very least most of Middle East would be a worthless cinder now.
