I think you're right about grandma. I know quite a few kids that shun their kids, but such a professional as she was? Not to mention, who in their right mind ties up their mother?
Maybe it was all a ploy and grandma allowed herself to be tied up as part of the ruse.
I'd like to add though that Florida isn't an easy state to get out of. There's really only two ways out, which is through Jacksonville or the panhandle, but they're going to have to go quite a ways to get there. Plus, with spring break being done, they won't be able to blend in with a bunch of other travelers unless the snowbirds are heading back.

This is the best article yet about the situation.

Scroll down for the photos of grandma's house, her car, and other pertinent details.
I find it fascinating the father was in the Air Force and registered on Adam Kokesh's website. Be sure to check out what he posted.
It certainly seems as though he was being watched. Especially for the fact that he was a veteran. We all know that the government has already labeled veterans as terrorists.
Joshua and Sharyn Hakken allegedly first lost custody of their children after they attended an anti-government rally in Louisiana in 2012.
Joshua was arrested when found in possession of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. According to NOLA.com:
Officials said they still have unanswered questions about the family's history and that they are working with Louisiana state officials and FBI agents to fill in the gaps of information.
The 2006 GMC Sierra was found in a parking garage in Madeira Beach.
On Thursday the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a statewide alert after the car the children were believed to be in was thought to have been spotted in the southeast part of the state.
According to investigators, Joshua and Sharyn Hakken are anti-government and have attempted a previous abduction at gunpoint in Louisiana.
Investigators said the two are considered armed and dangerous.

This updated article mentions their anti-government stance yet again:

Are we even sure they have a gun or guns on them? I have yet to read any information stating that they held a gun on grandma while tying her up. I guess because of the Louisiana incident, it's being assumed he has a weapon.
Since their vehicle has been found near the beach, maybe they have taken a boat out and are on their way to, oh, Costa Rica or Puerto Rico? Unless the other car was spotted by an officer, I'd say the tip is weak. I doubt they're in Tennessee.
Seems these folks have this well planned out to have lasted this long without being spotted and apprehended.
Did the police and FBI actually believe that stating they were anti-government was going to get the public to help with finding them? All the comments I'm seeing on the boards on other sites state that the majority of those they know are anti-government. I hope the Feds are seeing that labeling a person or people anti-government will most likely work against them.
Hakken lost custody of his sons last year after a drug possession arrest in Louisiana, and he later tried to take them from a foster home at gunpoint, authorities have said.
Authorities have previously characterized the Hakkens as "anti-government."
The sheriff's office says it has received information that the Hakken family had arrived by boat in Cuba. Investigators say they're working with the FBI and the U.S. State Department to verify reports.
CNN's Patrick Oppmann, reporting from Havana, said he saw the Hakken family at a marina, but they refused to talk to him. He reported that the father, mother and one child was spotted. He quotes Hakken as saying only that the children are "OK."
CNN said the family appeared to be setting up to live on the boat as their home.
Cuba does not have an extradition treaty with the United States.
U.S. authorities traveled to Cuba late Tuesday night and picked up the Tampa family that has been the subject of an Amber Alert for almost a week. The plane arrived back in the U.S. after 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Cuba turned over to the U.S. Joshua Hakken, his wife Sharyn and their two young boys Tuesday after the family was spotted alongside their boat, Salty, docked at Havana's Hemingway Marina.
