Beautiful photo taken by Tommy Eliassen in Norway, capturing Pan-STARRS and the northern lights in his shot:

Link to the story, at SPACE.com

I love all astro photos, but especially when the photographer captures things that are terrestrial in them too and gives us such beautiful pictures.

Thanks!

Can't wait for ISON to get here. I'll be outside with my camera the entire time.

The newfound Comet ISON has the potential to be one of the brightest ever seen when it streaks through the inner solar system this November, but whether it will live up to the hype is anybody's guess.

Nice one erik s&f have you not had a chance to take pictures yourself of Panstarrs. I have had no luck so far due to weather fingers crossed for some clear nights over the next couple of weeks.

My view to the west is blocked by a forest of trees.

In order to take pictures of it, I'd have to go find a field somewhere, but I've not had the time for it. And now the weather has been cloudy/rain (spring).
