Cruz is a decent guy, a little too hawkish on foreign policy for me but that might be why Rand Paul is close allies with him, to help shape his foreign views to lean towards non-interventionism.

I like most of what I've seen from Cruz so far.

Cruz was one of Ron Paul's early endorsements.

Very good observation. Did you also catch that bit out of Feinstein in which she said that the business of Congress is to pass laws and it is up to the Supreme Court to determine if they are constitutional or not?

Yes I did.

It's a sad state of affairs when our elected representatives take an oath to uphold the constitution of the US, but end up throwing anything at the wall......just to see if it sticks.

Sad indeed.

A lot of people pissing and moaning about their rights in this thread. As George Carlin said "you have no rights you have temporary privileges that can be revoked at anytime just ask the Japanese Americans of 1942". From my experience either party will screw you over any chance they get.

So to all you that think your rights are absolute can I expect to find you down at the local child porn movie theater running around shouting fire?

Socially unacceptable things get banned and unfortunately for some that list of things is going to include weapons such as at the AR15.

I'm no fan of Feinstein -- but it's obvious when I listen to someone writing from their place in the Conservative PR bubble. The OP describes her as a "progressive" since that's the new target of the corporatists.

I don't expect this to get through to partisan extremists, but it's just a message in the bottle for people who are confused about the issue.

Feinstein doesn't describe herself (to my knowledge) as a Progressive. There's nothing about her that's progressive. The only people saying this is the same people who claim Democrats thought Obama was "the One" -- meaning, it's totally a fabrication inside her head.

Feinstein and her husband invest heavily on military defense contractors. They are merely smooth politicians, and they probably flipped a coin one day and figured they'd make bank becoming Democrats -- it probably seemed like a good shot in the location they were in and the candidates they ran against.

Progressives aren't about a "nanny state" - or the "deadbeat dad" Republican state, nor is this the Progressive party and ideology of 100 years ago when another group shared that name. It's all about what works. It's about SOLVING problems and any very large problem, or endemic one requires an organized structure like a government.

There are only a handful of people in Washington that the Progressives consider Progressives -- and people on the RIGHT don't get to tell us who they are and then tarnish these ideals with their straw men.

Now there are quite a few running as Progressives -- and I can't vouch for everyone. I'm guessing that no Democrat or Republican want's to adopt EVERYONE with an R or D after their name either.

Here's the list for Congress.

Here's the "SENATE Progressives" meeting with Obama to push back on his plan to "negotiate" with Republicans by cutting entitlements and against the "Sequester" where Obama threatened Republicans by giving them more than the asked for. LINK

Here's a page showing policies pushed by the Progressives in the Senate; LINK

We are always going to have government -- unless we live in some post-apocalyptic nightmare -- there's no way millions of people with our current society can organize and feed themselves without one. So we want an honest and transparent government where the people decide on a case by case basis without ideology, whether it does or doesn't do something. But I don't want mercury in my food -- so I want an agency to make sure it doesn't get there. I don't want crony capitalism, or subsidies to companies that can convince politicians to give them money.

>> Well, rant over. I hope everyone can have honest debates with good information, and not follow the playbook of some NeoCons who peter tea-sipping Liberals who like to play dead for them and they'd LOVE to label every corrupt politico a Progressive. Right now, there isn't much money in being a Progressive -- selling out to a company just isn't part of the platform. I also don't think there is any way we can manage the complexities of the future, deal with labor issues in the dawning age of robots, or allocate resources without the PUBLIC being in charge of the rules of the game. Any vacuum that the Libertarians manage to leave with their idealist notion of "government too small to be corrupt" will of course be filled by groups with money and power. And that's either going to be a company, special interest, or union. Nature abhors a vacuum.

Man Im glad I voted for this guy.

He really stood by his words and charged right into DC. He has only been a Senator for a couple months, and his name is already all over the place.

Hi Neighbor!

Yeah, he's a big man on campus now. Let's see how far he goes!

Dick Durbin at the end says that none of these rights are absolute............that in itself says a lot. I see others caught this too.

the guy was making a good point though there at the end and it was a little hypocritical the way Texas treats the subject of porn considering the First Amendment. so in my opinion they're all a bunch of morons

I think the point is with what Durbin was saying was that the interpretation/reasoning wasn't consistent across the states. the rights ideally should be absolutes and that's why we need a Libertarian philosophy to run this country. we need to adhere to the few simple commandments given to us in the Constitution and other than protecting us and a few other incidentals the federal government should stay the hell out of our business. WE RUN THE GOVERNMENT IT'S NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND (wasn't yelling at you just highlighting a point) and in order to best do that we need a decentralization program immediately

Just what would an imploding bullet do? Would it just collapse into itself and disappear? Well I guess Feinstein knows since she has seen them used in America.

I would have loved him to reply to Feinstein after she said she been in politics for 30 to 40 years with a statement like; Well Senator that there is one reason why our government is so screwed up.

I rarely comment on posts, but feel I have to on this. The Declaration of Independance, The Bill of Rights and the entire Constitution were made for us by the very people who were tired of tyrannical government rule. 240 years ago, even they knew what a self-serving government was more that capable of and ready to execute on its people in order to maintain control. If the government weapons were bows-n-arrows, then we could only have sticks.
I think you may see what I'm getting at.
I don't need 30 round mags to go hunting, and would never say that that was what I am entitiled to for that purpose. I need all the best weaponry that the government has because THEY are who I fear.
Yes, if I could afford a $60 million tank, then there would be one in my drive way.
Thanks for the find OP.

Actually, A well regulated Militia might need the bazooka she spoke of,to take on one of the 2700 armored Homeland Security vehicles sent by an out of control government to put down the people of this country.
I also voted for Cruz and if this is what the Tea Party brings to the table I may vote for more of the same.

"The Senator knows, having attended law school, and professes to have some experience in the Constitution: None of these rights are absolute. None of them."

Out of all the political idiocy I've seen over the years, that one enraged me.

"The right of the people to ...... shall NOT BE INFRINGED."

Where was the outrage? Where was the slick talk? Where is the response to THAT?

Yes, the surrounding progressives sprang to the defense of Senator Dianne Feinstein and

only made it worse. Senator Ted Cruz has exposed a flaw the progressive agenda.

Frankly, I am to the point that the Enterprise should be parked 25 miles off the coast and be used as a staging ground/temporary living quarters for those holding any elected or appointed office to use to find another country to take them in if they do not wish to uphold the Constitution.

Deport them to the boat, give them 90 days to find somewhere else to live or make them walk the plank to make room for the next batch of traitors that violate of their oath of office. Heck I would even be willing to pay more in taxes to get that done.

Ummm....just payperview it and we could even lower taxes...I would subscribe to that...Settle the constitutionality of any law BEFORE it leaves committee...or walk the plank...rules I could get behind.

Liberals need to start asking themselves some hard question just like the conservatives have....DO THESE PEOPLE REPRESENT MY VIEWS?

Progressives have infiltrated both parties and are driving the country into fascism wake up voters and see this simple hard to grasp fact. The fine line between fascism and liberty is about to be tested. We need to remember our past and what every heart and mind needs........liberty and freedom.

The progressive mind is fearful, apathetic, lazy, controlling, weak. Is this what we want the future generations values to be? Look at every progressive community and tell me what you see. Filth, poverty, crime,no future for there kids. Why do you think the killed Mr.King? TPTB knew they could use the progressive tactics once he was gone and look at the Black culture now.

Mr. King is my idol and I mention and think of him often. He understood what the founding fathers wanted this great nation to be and was leading the Black culture into a bright future. We need more leaders like him today.

progressives and facists are not compatible, they are opposites

Its good to see that someone besides rand Paul is actually bring up the obvious. That the politicians in these positions of enforcing unjust laws and bills never answer the real questions when asked. He had to goat it out of her and when he finally did she just resorted to lying. If you believe the these laws should not be held against certain areas or otherwise stated as certain books then why my good lady are you enforcing this ridiculous gun law that gos against the very constitutional rights that not only founded this country but the same constitutional rights that you "claim" to have a great respect for?
