This story is from 2011. Shocking stupidity, and at its best!

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for co-operative governance and traditional affairs Nomsa Dube on Monday called on the national department of science and technology to investigate the causes of lightning after seven people in lightning strikes.

"We will do an investigation and talk to the department of science and technology on what is the cause of the lightning," said Dube.

And she never heard of lightning conductors?! And we leave it to these minds to run our country.

It is laughable, and, well, just sad.

Just one out of many ludicrous aspects of power. Sometimes it gets me so depressed when I realize that people that run my country are illiterate, uneducated and down right dumb. And it's not just my country. Many similar cases around the world.

I always had fantasies as a young boy, that the president of a country would be the smartest and the most competent man in that country. He has to be to lead so many. It seemed logical to me.

How very sadly was I mistaken...the child's naivety.

Reminds me of one American politician, can't remember his name...but it was something about...an Island tipping over if they bring too many thanks there...

Makes you hide your face with your palms and cry.
