Actually, closer to the truth is we like Obama personally and find him to be charismatic; it is those who are behind him, to the left and right of him and particularly those who keep jumping up to defend him that we hate, at least me anyway. Obama is, from my perspective, like a magnet to the riff raff who I have never had any use for, long before Obama was even born. Even the ObamaPhone Lady has woken-up to Obama and this is proof enough of just how disgusting his street-level supporters are.

It's like asking "is it legal to shoot a us citizen" or "can the us assassinate a citizen with ANY weapon". Haha can't you see the absurdity of this so called patriot shouting "libertas equitas freedom freedom" while still not addressing the fundamental issues.

You're not seeing the big picture. He used the filibuster to brings lots of things related to light. It wasn't just about the question. He took the opportunity to make people aware of what is going on.

BTW - In the beginning when they do the prayer before he does his thing, the guy saying the prayer said in the beginning "1000 means nothing to you" .... Anybody catch that? "The Beast" is supposed to be chained up for 1000 years. Listen to the prayer carefully on what he says. He is clearly speaking about the Sun. The lake of fire. Devil in the lake of fire? All I know is, the prayer was eery.

I gotta disagree. I'm not sure Rand is trying to get results through WHAT he says. But what he IS getting is publicity and the media covering the issue. I think that's the bigger picture here.

And I disagree with your claim on the accuracy of drones. AGM-1144 Hellfire missiles (like those used on American UCAVs) can be laser guided by a team on the ground. It certainly isn't perfect, but it is reliable enough.

I think that drone strikes against US civilians are possible, but the problem that would arise is how to spin it. I think the answer to that is simply timing. Before too long, the public opinion will probably sway just right and all they'd have to do is cry "terrorism" and all the sheeple would applaud our government for taking the initiative in intensifying the war on terror. And if they missed the target and accidentally killed some innocent people, most of America would probably lament that innocent people died, but probably think, "Hey, it's all for the greater good isn't it?"

Senator Paul was filibustering proceedings to delay the vote on the confirmation of John Brennen as CIA Director and had nothing to do with any legislation at that point.

Good on Paul. I am with him on this, somebody needs to make a stand. I hope the Obama administration got the message. I'm very curious if more Republicans and Democrats will get on board, there needs to be a movement to end this program, or the people blocking any any attempts to end this program, including Obama. Block their progress to nominate anybody and this will send them a message that people are getting tired of these invasive laws.

Now if people can focus on the Patriot act as well, this would be a great opportunity...

There's not even an explanation enough why such a program would be put in force. If the excuse is terrorism, I'd rather allow for that risk than allow my freedoms be taken away.

I love it how Rand Paul did all this during the nomination of a new CIA director. Nice touch, real nice touch, these agencies all behind these programs. People are starting to wake up.

Cornucopia, look I'm not a fan of many of Rand Paul's policies or the policies of Republicans, conservatives. You can ask anybody here where I stand and they'll tell ya That being said, regardless of whether Rand Paul made a stand to score points for the 2016 elections, or whether he had supported questionable individuals in the past, or whether he's a shill in other aspects, somebody needed to make a stand against these drone programs and he did. What matters at this point is the fact he is making a stand, somebody needs to do it, and Obama, his administration, many of the Democratic and Republican representatives, need to answer for it.

Agreeing with Rand Paul on this doesn't invalidate your political beliefs. If this was the Romney presidency I'd fully hope that people like Rand Paul would do the same!

I'm more worried about the next Republican President using the drones on Americans than Obama using them. It's usually Republicans who talk about being tough on crime.
Republicans seem jealous that Obama gets to play with the drones, not mad that he actually uses them. Think about when the story broke. They accused Obama of leaking the story to make himself appear strong. Republicans LOVE drones. Don't let them fool you.

So hopefully Rand Paul succeeds.

Even McCain- the guy I voted for to prevent an Obama win- was acting like this was a waste of time- he really let me down AGAIN>I retracted my support of the man.

Its not just whos in power now that can use these powers - but the administrations that come after as well. We dont want these guys to have that power over the people. Thats how wars get started. Its more than just one man.

BTW- These questions were brought up before Rand Paul brought them up...These are questions in direct response to the questioning of Eric Holder as well. He couldnt give a simple answer.
