Apple censoring iCloud emails and attachments

Get everyone using a free service and then bring in the laws once you get dependent on it. Its an old trick.

It just shows that Apple cant be trusted. Their products and services are over priced even though they are already a huge company. You would think they could drop their prices a bit once they had got to the top. They treat their employes terribly while trying to pay them almost nothing.

Saying its ok for them to do this just because other companies do the same is not good enough.

Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG etc...

ALL use the same practices as Apple to produce their products. They are mostly ALL overpriced, pieces of substandard tech. I'm not defending Apple's practices, but they are common in the market. Actually if you asked them they would probably tell you it's integral to their bottom line.

How else could they convince you to buy a new one every few years?

See there's one issue I have.. the every few years you have to buy something new.. Now I use Mac's just because I prefer the OS, for what I do it's easier than windows, and quite honestly I'm a little more used to it at this point. But I don't use iCloud and some of their other services (although I do have an iPad for the girls to play on) and I normally keep my machines until they are so far gone that they cannot possibly continue on.

Point is, doesn't matter who makes it, as long as you upkeep and make sure to keep your stuff in decent condition, it "should" physically last a lot longer then most things tend to nowadays..

It probably triggered one of their SPAM filters.

Some SPAM filters are triggered by keywords like "Viagra", and such

I am not sure if Apple has account controls which dictate what action should be taken if an email is suspected as SPAM, like block, or move to SPAM folder or whatever, most free email services do.

The question I have to ask is what is wrong with the phrase "barely legal"

"barely legal" still means legal. they are not censoring communication of illegal activities, theyre censoring perfectly reasonable communication.

I hate Apple. But, this isn't censorship. Ok well it is censorship but thanks to what's called a spam filter. I'm sure you know what they are. Mountain out of a mole hill. Far better examples out there, and of far higher concern than than a spam filter for kiddy porn.

Don't use cloud based services.

I like to be in direct and immediate control of my files. Remember the old addage, "if you put it on the internet, it stays forever". Who knows if these cloud based options are keeping duplicate copies of everything you put out there.

When I hear "cloud based" what I really hear is, "Hey give me all your files so we can keep better tabs on you".

Yeah, no thanks. I won't use those backup websites either. I don't want someone else to have the contents of my hard drives. No thanks! What if they get hacked?

A computer can only do what you tell it to do.

Not every software developer out there is trying to invade your space. The majority of programmers I know (myself included) do not want to invade your space.

Your fear of tech is irrational. All it has done is expand human communication. We went from having to send communications by horseback to the invention of the telephone. The telephone gave us the capability to be able to reach out and speak with someone in an instant, when it would have taken months just to reach them before.

The telephone was a super, nifty invention but it had setbacks. If an author published a new book, he did not have the ability to stuff a copy of the book in a telephone to send it to someone. If a scientist was doing research in the field and needed to send files to colleagues on the other side of the world, he or she did not have the ability to send those files through the phone lines.

The computer, and it's networks, has given us the ability to do the above in the blink of an eye.

I cannot see why that makes computers, or computer related technology evil. As I said, software is just a tool. It will only do what you tell it to do. The same people who use software for "evil" aims, would still be doing the same "evil" activities with or without computers.

I would like to add that there are other positive ramifications of digitizing human activities. Think of the amount of resources it takes to create compact discs. There is the disc, the image on the disc, the case the disc is carried in, and whatever cover booklet comes with the disc. If you bought a large collection of compact discs, you had to make space in your home to keep them in.

We do not have to do that anymore. We can contain entire music libraries in very small spaces, without the need of wasting the resources required in manufacturing compact discs.

The same goes for books. We can digitally store books, which means we no longer have to waste the physical resources required to manufacture large amounts of them.

You sure can! LOL I won't give details but a friend and her husband were having some together-time and used their iPhone to take some pictures. She said she was falling asleep later that night when she sat straight up in bed and said "OH MY GOD! The iCloud!" All the pictures had automatically synched to every iDevice they had. Including their kid's devices.

She then spent the next hour combing through and deleting them from everything before going back to sleep.
