NY - HIT SQUAD COMES OUT SHOOTING AT HS GAME

May 3, 2003 -- A gun-and-bat-wielding gang tried to execute several Queens high school baseball players during a game when they stormed onto the field firing shots, sending players and spectators running for cover, authorities said yesterday.
Sources said the gunfire late Thursday afternoon climaxed a day of fighting and angry words between one of the thugs, 15-year-old Pedro Rodriguez, and the unidentified center fielder for Grover Cleveland HS in Ridgewood.

The two initially exchanged blows during classes inside the school, and then angry words just minutes before Grover Cleveland took the field against a visiting squad from Stuyvesant HS in Manhattan. LINK
