Patriotic Group To Build Armed 'Defensible' Neighborhood Fortress

cnsnews.com

A group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty.

The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who "voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson's ideal of Rightful Liberty."

According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that "neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors' business, that neighbors live and let liv

This is an extremely interesting idea. It certainly gives people the opportunity to avoid some of the liberal, socialist trends that are accelerating under the current administration. I'd like to know how many people would consider joining such a community. Furthermore, I'd like to know whether those that are opposed to the current direction of this country, would be willing to help build such a community if one were available in your state?
One of the things that could accelerate such a movement, would be if the free militias of the various states were to endorse and agree to be part of such communities. If such communities were fairly self-sufficient, they could barter and avoid income and sales taxes. In addition, the idea of teaching schools without socialist leanings seems very attractive.
I know that economic issues may make it very hard for many people to join, but theoretically, would you be willing to participate in such an endeavor?
Let's try to keep this free from trolling, personal attacks, and just stick to the issue.
I believe that this is an important idea for a country that most believe is broken, and many believe is so corrupt that free elections are all but impossible.

I actually predicted years ago that the future of America would be broken up to various decentralized constitutional based republics.

Glenn beck, though i really could care less for him, is talking about having something like this in Texas

Big forts make big targets and their Citadel will look mighty nice to the targeting system of a UAV Bomber or even a manned one, if it pushed that far .... Although, of course, it would never have to. Fixed positions are vulnerable to one thing. They need things from outside their own outer wall and/or need to get rid of things. Get's them every time and it sounds great for symbolism ...EXPENSIVE symbolism ... but not much in real security, IMO.

Half the trick in being secure is no one knowing there ought to be a target there in the first place, IMO.

It sounds interesting in theory but I wonder how well it will really work in practice.
For instance how far are they going to take the "live and let live" policy?

will gays be allowed to live there? what about drunks and drug users who beat their wives and kids? what about people on welfare and foodstamps who choose to not work and make government handouts a way of life, can they live there?
At what point do they draw the line to their policy of live and let live keep your nose out of your neighbors business?

I wouldn`t move there it sounds too much like a cult or at the very least it sounds like it could become a cult very easily.

Both are interesting replies. However, although I agree that they may need things from the outside, they still have the opportunity to bring up their families without government intervention, or at least, a great reduction of intervention, if they do it correctly. For instance, if they have their own schools, they can avoid many of the ridiculous regulations that many school districts are now subjected to, such as confiscating a child's lunch, because someone on their school board doesn't believe peanut butter is good for them. In addition, the CONSTITUTION can be taught, instead of politically correct non-sense being pushed by the administration and its minions today. There are many other advantages to such a community, but to me, the best is that people can bring up their children with their beliefs, not those of government officials who are shoving their views upon the general public.

As much as I would support the ideal surrounding such a creation, I too am curious about their admission policies.

Would they be inclusive of everyone that wishes to live under the banner of liberty?

Waco Texas.

First thing I thought of when I saw this thread.

I know David Koresh was a nutcase. And the Branch Davidians were a religious cult.

IMHO, I think this is a bad headline, waiting to happen.

If[/b ]they advertise their venture in this way.

I hope they have their own citizen security force also, or build their compound to be defensible from the local police agencies.

Watching this video right now.

So what'll happen to passing hikers who get lost and ask for directions? Will they be warned off or shot?

Somehow, I don't believe that respect for the Constitution makes one a cult member. Our founding fathers set up the Constitution as a roadmap for living in the United States. As for gays, etc., I certainly don't see how they would be excluded, because there is nothing in the constitution that says anything about gays or any other group. In fact, unlike current conditions, where it seems necessary to enact laws that enforce certain ideas, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence make it clear that "All men are created equal" and it is understood by all that they meant all humans. I believe people have been conditioned to believe that all of these nonsensical edicts and laws are necessary, when in fact, the Constitution makes it clear that anything not specified in the Constitution, are left to the States, and furthermore, that individual communities are free to enact their own laws, as long as they do not conflict with the states or the Constitution.
I also believe that things have come to the point where several states are seriously considering seceding from the US.

For every "nutcase", there are hundreds of groups that are not like him. For instance, look at all of the Amish communities that essentially do the same thing. I wouldn't consider them "nutcases".

Oh, please. Get serious. If they ask for directions, I'm sure someone will give those directions to them.

I'm sorry, I think that the idea is a disaster waiting to happen. Are they placing themselves outside society? Outside the law? Who will police them? What about jobs? And I'm sorry but labelling things as "Socialist" without stating what exactly you mean seems to be deeply iffy. Fer flips sake, weekends came about because of "socialist" things like unions.

Anytime a group decides to close themselves off from the rest of society and indoctrinates its community, arms itself and declares they are patriots, you know it is not gonna end well just like most cults.

reply to post by beezzer

As I stated in a previous response, I believe that the admission policy is fairly clear, namely living according to the Constitution. There is nothing that says any gender, sexual persuasion, etc, would be excluded. I can only respond to what they claim, and they specifically state that certain mindsets would probably not be comfortable living there, but that would be up to the persons that feel that way.
Let's try to keep the discussion to what is stated in the news article, not what people believe it could become.

So groups like the Amish are considered cults by you? People that believe in the Constitution, which supports the second amendment, are considered cults. People that want their families to be safe, are cults?
Maybe they are cults, but then so are the very wealthy that live in gated communities or in gated mansions and have private armed guards protecting their homes. In fact, then the White House is a cult for the same reason. After all, POTUS lives in a gated house, with armed secret service guards.
Think outside the box.

You're not the only one mate, same.

However, Koresh may have thought he was the messiah, he didn't start the massacre, the Feds did and that was apparently after setting him up on guns charges

I think the authorities may have something to say about this "Fortress".

Lotsa luck but never going to happen requires too much money. My buddy has over 10k acres in the Kentucky Tennessee area that he can't give away people offering 10$ an acre but he won't sell for less than 100$

I don't know. This stood out to me:

[Residents should also agree that being "prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficent with the American icon of liberty -the rifle- are prudent measures,

It just seems like an invitation for ATF to come and visit.
