Here's another account of a police officer simply being let off the hook as usual, this seems to happen to often. This time the officer was drink driving and killed his passenger in the crash that followed. Recently there was the officer in America if I remember correctly who tasered a kid and was let off without any charges. What type of society do we live in, these so called police can commit acts of brutality to citizens with it being justified as necessary force but yet a officer can drink & drive kill his passenger and be let off

Drink driving police officer spared jail despite killing girlfriend when he crashed sports car into parked van Brendan Buggie was up to two times the legal limit when he crashed He had six previous speeding offences Judge put him under curfew to stop him 'drowning sorrows over Christmas'

Judge Colin Burn also placed him under a 30-day curfew from 9pm to 7am to prevent him 'going out over the Christmas period and drowning sorrows.'

He was cleared by a jury last month of causing Justyna Stanczak’s death by careless driving.

Buggie, who was suspended from Greater Manchester Police following the collision in December 2011, resigned from the force today.

The former officer, who had six previous speeding offences, had drunk around six pints and was between one-and-a-half to two times over the legal limit when he ploughed his sports car into a parked van on the A56 in Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester.

Miss Stanczak, 26, who was in the front seat of Buggie’s Toyota Celica, died later.

Well, cleared by a jury. Not by TPTB. That should indicate to us all that the story has a WHOLE lotta information left out of it.

Depends what he got charged with. He may have been found guilty on a drink driving charge but found not guity on the careless charge.

Sounds like he has been given bail conditions and may be sentenced later. Either way it was the jury that cleared him not the judge.
