It seems even in China the doomsdayers are cashing in and spreading fear...

"People have fabricated and spread rumours about the 'end of the world', caused trouble by tricking people out of money, and disturbed social order," the report cited police in the southwestern megacity of Chongqing as saying.

There is also a Christian "cult" growing in size looking to overthrow the Emperor when a "female Jesus" arrives.

The group has called on its members to overthrow China's ruling Communist Party, which it refers to as "the big red dragon", and tells believers that a new era, presided over by a "female Jesus", has arrived.

I don't see that going well for them.

You know, if the power trippers in Beijing gave it less than 7 days to wait? This whole thing would solve itself without the need for the State to come in and stomp people into roadkill. China has a way of being about as subtle as a case of the clap.

Or you could look at it another way. They are protecting their citizens from the cultists who simply want to take money under false pretenses.

China expects its citizens to behave responsibly. What is happening as reported by the OP is not the act of responsible people, far from it.

I just have to add, how do you get hold of a female Jesus. Sex change operation or a miraculous gender change?

Sounds like a Christian cult who have chaned the original teachings to suit their BS agenda or the Chinese are covering their behinds because they knocked a few of them off during the crackdown. Oh well, idiots will be idiots.

Forget 21/12/12 and the Mayans - this female Jesus cult has me intrigued......

The group was founded in 1989 in Heilongjiang Province by Zhao Weishan. They believe that God has returned to earth as a woman, "born to an ordinary family in the Northern part of China" to guide mankind for the third and last time. According to the group, the first and second times of active guidance of mankind were as Jehovah of the Old Testament and as Jesus in the New Testament. The group teaches that a woman self-styled "Lightning Deng", from Zhengzhou, Henan is the second Christ.
Her most widely distributed book, Lightning from the Orient is the Word of God. The book claimed the first coming of Christ was to redeem humanity, while the second is to conquer men's hearts and defeat Satan. Those who do not accept her words would die a terrible death or receive severe punishment.
Source

Awesomeness has arrived at last - me love this story long time!

"For as the lightning cometh out of the East, and shineth even unto the West; so shall also the coming of the Son Daughter of man be.

I could dig the long hair and white robe - I just hope she does not have a beard!

I'd be worried if she had a beard...

Can't see why the Chinese government are even threatened by these clowns?

300,000 members (2001) with a core philosophy which

calls on its members to overthrow China's ruling Communist Party, which it refers to as "the big red dragon", and tells believers that a new era, presided over by a "female Jesus", has arrived

Consequently

the group is number 2 on the cult hit-list of the Chinese Communist Party

(quotes are from source in my first post)

Can't have any pesky brainwashed free thinkers going against the little red book now - especially a few hundred thousand of them - that's "unacceptable" and will be addressed accordingly (when the media isn't looking).

Why drag Christianity into this?
I mean really there was no reference to any of that in the story.

How many threads on this story are there?
I clicked on this one thinking it was another.

Anyway.

This is sad. People can't talk about what they want?
I'm glad I don't live there.
