WBC - Westboro Baptist Church to picket Newtown, CT School Shooting

I sure hope the government will get up and actually do something if it outrages enough people..I am literally speechless they would even show there faces these poor families have been through enough this is just madness and its sickening..peace,sugarcookie1

I hope they don't, it's not their job, or place to silence any group. However, counter protests are heavily encouraged.

Jeez, will these people ever give up? they are utter evil. Soldiers funerals are bad enough, but children? how could they do this.
THe louis theroux docu about them was very interesting, the leader, who i think they call gramps was one of the most smug and umpleasant people ive even seen. And that is one characteristic that all the members seem to have in common, smugness.
I assume they think that theyre church is the only true one. Well its certainly gonna be quiet up in heaven if theres just the thirty of them up there. In fact if they were there, i think id rather go to the other place.

The government cant do anything, at the end of the day these people are practicing their right to free speech. I think as some have said, it would be best to ignore them, however, in practice, it think most people would find that very difficult.

Oh my.... ! The people of Newtown will be well within their right to hand them a one way ticket to hell. Pretty sure the entire nation would look the other way.

Arrest every single one of them but i know that wont happen (freedom of speech)the whole thing is beyond repulsive and angers me just like I'm sure it does many..peace,sugarcookie1

Arrest them for what? at the end of the day, these people are lawyers, can you imagine the circus. But i do agree with you, chuck them in prison, i wish it was a criminal offence to be cause emoitional and pyschological hurt to grieving people. Yuk, hate them.

People say ignore them and I totally believe the opposite. Take video of them plaster it on facebook and youtube and let the people know them for what they are individually.
I'd be more then happy to use some freedom of speech on them if I recognized one in public letting everyone else know what scum walks among us.

I'll say this though. I had a long talk with the Gentleman who runs the National Cemetery here when making the arrangements for my Dad a couple years back. There are bike clubs that many cemeteries know to call or who offer on a volunteer basis to escort Veterans and specifically to run interference against the WBC haters. I understand they've become pretty good in some places too, for having practice at putting a wall between the noise makers and the respectful events happening.

Just another idea...but calling National Cemeteries to see who they call when wishing for some non-violent volunteer help could be an idea.

National Cemeteries are the ones you might see where the Crosses are in nice rows. They are the Veteran Cemeteries and they are all over. I'd think on an event such as this and for the reason you'd be asking for ideas, they'd be happy to share what they may know from experience at a given location.

If I were attempting to do this as a serious thing, I'd start looking through Google News and other news archives for where the WBC has been before as to which places to call. Here is a directory of locations though, for reference:

Those people are disgusting. I can't stand them, and hate everything they stand for. But, it is their right to say what they want. If we deny them their right to be assholes, we have to deny everyone's freedom of speech. Now that being said: I hope they're able to get enough people to have a counter-demonstration. And, I hope the parents and families of the victims can have a peaceful funeral.

wow I think there might be some serious fist fights over this one if they do pull this stunt . That whole town will be seeing red I would assume . Not very smart by the wbc freaks they will get the snot beat out them to put it nicely if they are lucky to walk away with a bloody nose .. As I would probably be picking a fight with them if I was anywhere near there there . The show of disrespect by these wbc on this one makes me want to punch one in the face now. and if they do I hope some one there does it for me and everyone one else in the world for showing such disrespect for children and their family that remain that probably felt like they have almost died of a heartache ..

What a sick society we live in , people everywhere on this planet should be ashamed of the state of affairs we all live in and continue to live in because we are all just to busy trying to live like Pharaohs , instead of helping each other all the time and only helping each other in these times of need .Still at times like these some people only want to exploit their agendas .

Yup, I'm about the calmest laid back and forgiving person you're likely to meet but if I was burying a child and these aholes showed up I would be going to jail no doubt about it. I just don't get these people but I guess I'm not supposed to cause I'm not a lunatic.
