Health insurer Blue Shield of California wants to raise rates as much as 20% for some individual policyholders, prompting calls for the nonprofit to use some of its record-high reserve of $3.9 billion to hold down premiums. In filings with state regulators, Blue Shield is seeking an average rate increase of 12% for more than 300,000 customers, effective in March, with a maximum increase of 20%.

But remember...inflation is not real, you're only imagining these cost increases in food and the like. Everything is O.K. This is your government speaking.

Right.

I think these big bastard corporations should start reviewing their profit margins before the little people start revolting.

Probably trying to get back some of the money they've lost in other states due to new Obamacare laws. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with the cost of care in California either.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina said Monday that it would refund $155.8 million to 215,000 policyholders because of the national health reform effort.

Brad Wilson, chief executive of Blue Cross, the state's largest insurer, said the refunds would be issued by the end of the year to people who had individual Blue Advantage or Blue Options HSA policies on March 23, the date when President Barack Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 into law.

In the meanwhile, my BCBS rates in Missouri were raised by 46% for 2012 and raised another 10% for 2013.

I don't see any gain from having health insurance premiums lowered in exchange for more taxes, surcharges and fees associated with Obamacare.

Go read the thread on the additional $63 that everyone is now being charged that just came out in the last couple of days regarding Obamacare.

Then look at all of the other money that's being designated to Obamacare.

Yes, I am aware of the costs.

I was being sarcastic in my statement. I and many many others new that costs were not going to go down, but only go up.

No surprise. We will have to pay more premiums and will be giving a extra tax to our paychecks like they do with medicare etc. Talk about taking it from the back and front. Well, the people voted for it what can u do.

Relax.

This is all part of the plan.

When companies have to raise rates to accomidate the current Obamacare and the "people" revolt, the government will just step in and nationalise all health insurance companies and make it a single-payer system.

Then true socialised-nationalised healthcare will be here and governmnent will control it all.

Be sure to thank all those that voted for Obama on this orwellian nightmare!
