Hi! I am a new member to ATS from Texas. I joined ATS because I love reading the posts here. Some of them have helped open my eyes in the past year or so. I have to admit I've been lurking for a long while(like many others start out) and I decided to make an account on a whim. I don't think I'll post or comment a lot because I feel like I'll be hesitant to. The things discussed here aren't usually what I talk about with people, even on serious occasions. I will try to have input though.

What can I say about me? My name is Jewell. I am currently a college student living in an apartment with my roommate, and my boyfriend of two years. I admit that I feel I am a lot better off than most people are these days and I think it's mostly due to sheer luck. I am very thankful for what I have even if it's not much. I have a passion for the arts & cooking but I am not looking for a career in either. There isn't much else I can think to say about myself unless asked (and you are welcome to).

Replies to this post might not be quick so sorry in advance.

I think you should comment and contribute whenever and wherever you feel like you have something to say! Yes, you may be repeating someone else, and yes, you may be offering something that turns out to be kind of silly or not well-informed. But I'm always surprised at how often people miss some very obvious things because they've trained themselves to see conspiracies or UFOs or other stuff everywhere. I'm not immune to this myself, and it's genuinely nice and sometimes even downright useful to be snapped out of my myopic thinking by someone with a different point of view. And that point of view usually comes from people not immersed in the subject at hand.

Oh, and there's that whole "learning by asking questions" thing too.

You would be surprised just how fast we're about to change that. You dig deep enough and you could leave enlightened....or frightened.
ATS has it all.
