Solid jolt in Apple Valley Ca.

Just felt a Solid jolt in Apple Valley Ca .Sitting here and had a jolt scare me right up out of my seat. Felt like a car hit the house. Had to be a quake I've never felt a jolt like that sheesh that was solid. Only 3.4 centered right near Apple Valley but it hit solid.

A minor earthquake occurred at 4:58:32 PM (PST) on Monday, November 26, 2012.
The magnitude 3.4 event occurred 13 km (8 miles) ESE of Hesperia, CA.
The hypocentral depth is 6 km ( 4 miles).

We were in the bedroom and felt the window shake like somebody slammed the door in our house, wen't investigating but nobody was going in our out, so I guess that solves that one.

It was very quick and sharp. I've lived in Apple Valley since '88 and been through Landers and Big Bear quakes but still haven' t felt such a quick jolt like this. Also I've never seen the epicenter so close to any of the cities (12 km ESE of Hesperia!).

I'm finally getting settled with it. My wife thought I was slamming doors again too. Then jumped up off the couch when she found it wasn't me. She was all flicking channels try'in to find the news. She found it pretty fast on channel 2.

Just log on to say I live in Big Bear Lake Ca. about 20 miles south west of there, and we did not feel any thing up here.

I'm surprised that the news actually covered it since it was in the High Desert, they usually avoid us like the plague, lol.

Maybe it's just me, but I gotta ask since you're a fellow Apple Vallian, but doesn't it seem that (locally) we have been very light on earthquakes these past few years? I'm not complaining, it just seems like they used to be a bit more frequent around here.

Nah, I just figured with over 12,000 posts, and knowing you're in Apple Valley there was a good chance you'd make a post about it

It was fairly shallow, i'm going to guess that's why it felt so "solid".

There've been a couple here very close to me (RivCo) that felt "solid" as well, that were only 3.0 and 3.4. Both were about 10 km down. Although if i'd been asleep i doubt i would've noticed them.
