idk if other people noticed, but a glance at the Macy's Parade revealed this "work of art".

Not only are the "burning" buildings troublesome, but the entire thing looks like some sort of atomic fireball to me.

Sorry to disturb anyone unduly, but this bothers me a lil. I don't post a lot of new threads, but...

Maybe someone can find a pic of this that is better than mine. In the right perspective, it's erie.

It's the Big Apple man. You know? New York City's nickname?

Looks like an apple to me.

(By the way, I HATE big cities but I LOVE New York City! Can't wait to go back!)

Edit: After looking at the pics again I can see what you mean about the buildings looking like they are burning.

It is a fireball disguised as an apple.

TPTB have taken to notifying the public of their intentions via cryptic parade floats.

Like others said, it's the Big Apple, Holmes. Sheesh!

The most disturbing thing in the image is the sleeveless fur coat which is clearly a sign of impending doom, horrible taste in clothing and animal cruelty.

The float has been part of the parade for years.

That is the first time I have seen the NYC skyline depicted as being entirely consumed in fire at an NYC event. At least flooding would have made sense as a nod to Sandy so recently striking. This though? Event to come or someone's idea of a message totally unrelated? The Empire state building is one that sits outside the fire depicted across the city....what are the other few buildings? Anything about those iconic to recognize?

What an odd set of imagery for this point in time and history. Downright...inappropriate as the best word that comes to my mind. It's fits about as well as the Murals and Bluecifer at Denver international.

(I see the Big Apple of course...but those still look like flames across the whole skyline?)

It's part of the colors of the apple. Red with hints of yellow. It's art. A stylized depiction. Maybe next year they can make the apple green to alleviate unwarranted hysteria of NYC on fire.

If it was fire, there would be smoke. There is no smoke.

Ok, it is an apple, a big one at that.

But if you don't see the flames licking up between the buildings.... and the Empire State Building toppling over, well.... I do.

Yep, it is a stylized apple. That sure is some wicked style though.

There's smoke there.
It's stylized.

Since some people have been busy huffing glue instead of eating apples, please refer to this pic:

It looks just like the float!

Except that there are no buildings on fire and the Empire State building isn't toppling over.

The float has been at the parade for 25 years...

Is there any reason why now it is of significance?

I won't deny that it has been there for years.

I think it is creepy though.
