As this is ATS..........

It isn't a stargate or a monument, it is a refuge for when the Three Gorges Dam breaks........

Wow. That dimensional gate is big enough, even for the monster animal of the 2007 movie: "The Mist" to pass through.

China can't even build a calculator watch that doesn't fall apart in a few days ...and even those are copied!

The chances of the the Chinese giving anything revolutionary to the planet in the next few generations is somewhere between Buckley's and snowflake's. Perhaps after the communist hangover leaves them, in a century or so, they'll have something ingenuitive to bring to the table.

As it stands, this is just another example of the politburo's false economic tomfoolery based on building shít no one over there needs or can afford to avail.

That's no moon....That's a space station!

Oh....wait....wrong thread.

That's a pretty impressive feat of engineering by the Chinese. If you ask me, they're compensating for something.

All joking aside, I really don't think this is a stargate. It's just an expenditure of extra funds that they make from selling the U.S. crappy goods. It's still really cool looking though. I bet the tourists will be flocking to that thing.

You think China is putting maximum effort and quality materials into the crap they know they're exporting to the US? NO! Obviously they are not going to put the same shoddy workmanship into their own pet projects.

How about their children surpassing the United States in all the standardized test scores? Math and science anyone? Racist against the Chinese much, guys?

Oh come on now ! A poke at the Chinese ? Yes. Racist ? Not.

So have we worked out if it's a stargate or not? Or shall we let this go on for another 4 pages to explore our inner racist and wit?

I for one don't think it's a stargate because that would assume we would know how to build one and all the science theory behind it has become fact.

Nice monument though.

So the 9/11 steel went to China and they end up building this contraption. Not sure what to make of it. Can't decide if it's too much or if it's kind of cool looking.

Maybe if they light it up at night with all the led lights on, I'll be able to come up with a definitive answer.

Can you just imagine the electric bill with that thing on?

Small electric bill, even if it was electricity ROM ComEd and not solar. LED!

Most of the things that are considered architecturally pleasing today were viewed negatively when they were initially built.

The Chinese started eating potatoes.
Potatoes have a lot more vitamins and minerals than rice. That alone was enough to raise their test scores. Americans have been eating less potatoes and when they eat them they are frenchfries which lose some of the good properties.
No stargate necessary.

There's only about 500 useless building all around the world built by every developed government, and some of the folks in this thread are making fun of the Chinese? What a shame.

Cool building; there's a smaller version in St. Louis.

The circle is the Chinese symbol of heaven. In other cultures the circle remains a significant symbol. In Feng Shui, the circle can be used to offset some negative energies.

It's called an arch because they didn't finish enough of it to call it a circle...

Boss: "I'm tired and there's no budget remaining anyway. I'm going home."

Worker: "But we've only finished half the circle sir! What are we gonna do?"

Politician: "Just call it an arch and be done with it."
