Are you responding to me? I didn't say anything about Obama running for a third term. Bush didn't have to run again to have angered so many people that McCain felt the heat. People will always see the next man (or woman) on the same party's ticket as a continuation. Also, I'm sorry, but you were straight insulting, I am talking about the republican-democrat 2 party yo-yo. Here you are insulting me, and I'm probably on your side.
Pride goeth before the fall is exactly what I said. My second sentence stated that Democrats benefitted from the backlash that the GOP created. I was trying to get people to say Kumbaya, and I am on the left. I voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012, but in 2009 when all the hero worship and Democrat pride swelled, I knew we were in trouble in the next election. I saw it immediately, and what happened? The Tea Party came to the fore in 2010. So instead of venting my frustration at the right, I want to be the better man. And if the GOP keeps abusing and name calling everyone who doesn't agree with them, the democrats might win big in 2014. However, if the democrats take part in the name calling sludge fest, the average joe in 2014 might vote republican. Because let's face it, most people actually believe that by electing some public officials, they can just wave a magic wand and fix the economy and everything else.

Insulting you? It's called reassurance. This isn't about you.
Why make like it is?

Well if Obama is a moderate Republican, the Democrats in Congress will have no problem opposing the upcoming policies and regulations.

And I guess now they should extend all those tax cuts ?

No choice left

Obama is every bit as conservative as Regan was, if not more conservative than Regan was. Which just shows how psychotic and delusional so many Americans are today, that most of the same people that praise Regan as a conservative hero, also refer to Obama as a socialist, Marxist, communist, etc.

Reagan for example, would be 100% totally unelectable to the Republican ticket today, and Obama sure the hell is way far to the right of any true progressives.

Ronald Reagan was 100% pro-defense, viciously pro-America at almost any cost and believed in lower taxes, in general to bring higher economic return. The latter half of the 80s on into Clinton's term would tend to show he was right too. He did cave on amnesty, but for those who recall or read about it, that was part of a deal for much greater enforcement and the second half never came. He ended up with egg on his face for trusting.

How Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan share much for policy, outlook or leadership style is totally beyond me though. I'm thinking back not only to my living memory of Reagan, such that it is, but the trips to the Reagan Library and the history there. Reagan fired the entire Air Traffic Controllers union, as he should have. That would be another difference and I could never see the current President even joking about for such a move, for any reason whatever.

Finally, Reagan and Tip O'neil worked together FAR FAR more than anyone today even thinks about. Carter couldn't get much done to save his life and Daddy Bush pissed people off pretty much from the word go. Reagan worked with people though...which goes to show how much Presidential Leadership DOES make a difference. That would be the final and enormous difference. Obama said there would be bipartisan cooperation in 2009 too.....to watch republicans literally barred from and locked out of the ROOMS while meetings were held to hash out Obamacare. If taxes and the economy see the same "Bipartisan" approach, we're doomed to fail and nothing will get done.

Of course, I'd love to hear anything in actual policy that Reagan and Obama share as more than passing coincidence?

Here was another link on topic from almost a year ago...from the UK Guardian and I think it also explains quite well why the GOP lost this election. It also fairly accurately describes the Democrats own frustration with Obama being too far right even for them.

Vote Obama – if you want a centrist Republican for US president

In a desperate attempt to find someone less slithery and soulless (not to mention less Mormon), party members have lurched manically from one ludicrous candidate to the next, only to watch in horror as each wilted the moment they were subjected to scrutiny...Incessant pleas to the party's ostensibly more respectable conservatives to enter the race have been repeatedly rebuffed. Now, only Romney remains viable. Republican voters are thus slowly resigning themselves to marching behind a vacant, supremely malleable technocrat whom they plainly detest.

In sum, how do you demonise Obama as a terrorist-loving secret Muslim intent on empowering US enemies when he has adopted, and in some cases extended, what was rightwing orthodoxy for the last decade?

The core problem for GOP challengers is that they cannot be respectable Republicans because, as Krugman pointed out, Obama has that position occupied.

They are forced to move so far to the right that they render themselves inherently absurd.

No, no he is not.

Now, a RINO Moderate I will agree with, as that is the more correct definer.

This is why I just cannot grasp why so many republicans are so butthurt over the election, it could be much worse for them, a true democrat could be in office. I have to admit, I would probably like the guy much more if he were a lot more progressive.

I think it is admirable that people don't just sit on their butts and collect a paycheck for being American darlings for whatever reason even if that is a gullible and stupid public.

I think it is good to be concerned for those who do not yet have what little we have and lord knows we don't have it all here and are fast losing what we did have but at least we have plugged a leak. Yes...I don't criticize people for having causes. I did not turn on Jane Fonda. In the end these people are as important as you make them.

The racism card is getting old. Really, really old. My disdain has nothing to do with his ethnicity which includes a white mother and everything to do with his ineptness. Your writing style looks very familiar by the way. How's it going YourWIFI?

Well that at least is something.

I'd call that compromise.

Anyone expecting Liberals and Democrats to turn right wing Republican is living in fantasy land.

The most you will ever get from them (us) whatever is this middle ground.
And God forbid another Kennedy comes along. Y'all may as well take little Bush Junior and go home. Just kidding...getting waaaaay ahead of myself.

Lets go back to compromise.
Compromise is good.
We did it!

Now stop shoving.

When Romneys biggest supporters were white men and Obama's biggest supporters were among women and across all minorities so I would have to say racism and gender issues had a hand in things. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on where you stand.. that hand was apparently just whacking off one last time.

If you are Latino or a minority you probably DO have at least one relative trying to get into the country so I think Romney did the single most amount of damage to himself by using the words "self deportation" on National Television.

People said this was the last election that would or might be determined by angry white men.
I tend to believe that election was back in 2004.

It's just that the GOP went so extreme to the Right - - - they left their own party.

Obama to Boehner: Put Down the Gun - By Jonathan Chait

President Obama's remarks today about the so-called "fiscal cliff" set the stage for a showdown with Congress likely to last for the next few months. Obama set one line in the sand: revenue. He announced that he would compromise with Republicans, but would not give up his insistence that high-income Americans pay more taxes as part of any long-term deficit solution.

Interestingly, Obama's remarks were not predicated on the assumption that the two sides would strike a deal before January. In fact he assumed they would not, and his message was designed to be repeated through the new year.

Obama's message is that allowing the tax cuts on income under $250,000 a year to expire would harm vulnerable people and slow down the economy, and since both sides favor extending those cuts, Republicans should do it. That is to say, he presupposed the failure of the negotiations and (accurately) pinned the blame for failing to extend the middle-class tax cuts on the GOP.

To OP:
And Romney was actually an moderate democrat. He might have said some things on the campaign trail, but I know that deep down, Romney is actually a moderate democrat.

lol Don't mistake Obama's hands being tied for him being a moderate. We just have his actions tied up from a Republican House, but he just goes around Congress anyway.

So Obama is a moderate but he's trying to force the Republicans in Congress to do something they don't want to do....that about sums up things.

No, I'm sorry, I disagree wholeheartedly. Bill Clinton was more of a centrist than Obama which explains why Congress was more willing to work with him, but he and Hillary did support HillaryCare which did not take, but is essentially the same thing as Obamacare, that is socialist healthcare, so in reality none of these people are really moderates, they are just pretending to be so they can get people to do stuff and make compromises. Not to mention all the other liberal stuff Bill and Hillary espoused while in office, for instance Bill signed the Kyoto Protocol. They were also involved in the Millenium Declaration and UN Agenda 21. Bobo is further left than the Clintons. But Bobo and HIllary are both supporting the various UN Treaties, so really both are cut from the same cloth.

I would hardly call Obamacare a "government takeover of healthcare"......Maybe that is your disconnect?

If you premise your thinking on a falsehood, everything else tilts until the tower falls over...we watched it live on Fox last election...one part tragic, one part funny...lots of shock and confusion.

You can still be Republican...Conservative...even Libertarian or TP, but if you build your house upon BS Mountain, it's eventually going to come down in a mudslide...well not exactly mud.

Pretty much in agreeance. Many who are social democrats, from Europe and myself included from Canada, have already said, that he is not a socialist, and is right winged, no socialist acts like that. But the US calls a moderate conservative (or fasicst) a socialist, not surprisingly. So heavy is the programming.

The only party that is even close to my ideals is the NDP, which on a global political science circle with democracies on the top half and totalitarianism at the bottom, as we were taught in school, is only barely left of center. So Im more socialistic than them since they're more uninion guys and Im more kids, moms and grandma's.

But on the questionaire I took, Obama was second to the bottom in the US, 33% agreement and that was probably only because I didn't take the time to make up my own points on more than one question and because its pretty general the questions to begin with and they didn't really ask the right ones. He is the farthest thing from a socialist any socialist could see. By the way, communists are quite close to ultra conservatism, in the way they operate their scarsity systems. My friend escaped Hungary before the curtain fell and she said the only difference in her life as the working poor here, and there was a few lineups were shorter and she had a vcr now, whoopee. She was voting liberal next election. Whereas countries like Norway have good standards of living.

There is no way I am going to accept your opinion on Obama in regards to anything.

Let's just say you've clearly "laid your path" in forum threads.

I choose to believe the viewpoint/opinion of real political analysts.
