There you go again. You're either too young, maybe haven't gotten to that chapter yet or simply choose to ignore Syrian aggression. The Russian/Soviets have been backing their proxy Syria against Israel for decades...

Source

In the period between Israel’s War of Independence (1948) and the Six Day War (1967), the Syrians constantly harassed Israeli border communities by firing artillery shells from their dominant positions on the Golan Heights. In October 1966 Israel brought the matter up before the United Nations. Five nations sponsored a resolution criticizing Syria for its actions but it failed to pass due to a Soviet veto.

Oh, look.

The Russians blocked the UN in favor of the Syrians then too......

This would be ideal propaganda do you not even pay attention to the RT propaganda and how the west supports rebels in Syria etc.

What goes around comes around eh?

Two points which people will dispute, no doubt.

1. Is there a proxy war going on, in the context of Russia versus the US/West? I think not. There’s a war of words and tensions around the edges, but Russia is pretty isolated and impotent.
2. The Western press not controlled by Western governments. A feature of the autocracies such as Russia (Russia Today) and Iran (Press TV) is that these nations own and control their “mouthpieces” as an extension of foreign policy. They are pure propaganda designed to promote themselves as jolly nice nations and everyone else being rather nasty and bad.

We can say the same for any country if someone went back far enough. Do I have to make a list? What i see, especially since reading the internet, is people have a remarkable sense of self preservation. They dont criticize where there is real danger for being critical and this carries over to new agencies so we dont get the real news just news that can be putout and paychecks collected.

Lets give a visual. Say you have Charles Manson, David Berkowitz (reformed), Ted Bundy or leaders from some drug cartel in a room. Are you going to criticize them? No, of course you wont.

Is it a flaw in human nature? I dont think so since we survived for so long. It may be classified as a weakness though.

I am literally sick to the point of exasperation of dealing with Russia Today and PressTV clips which pander to conspiracy enthusiasts, as if the subjects they cover weren't themselves an extension of deliberate government policy.

Hence, the plethora of anti-Israel, anti-Zionist, anti-american segments they have. They talk as if they were libertarians!
, and many here probably get that impression.

Heres a fact about Russia Today: Russia Today is a virtual cartel of the Russia Government, funded by the Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation. Same situation with Press TV in Iran, which is funded by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.

They are appealing to those groups which they can make use of in their propaganda war against the west. For instance, to claim that 'oil' - the talking point which the hostess mentions again and again, obfuscates the larger issue of Iran's religious fanaticism, it's nuclear program, and it's inveterate threats against Israel. Same thing with Iraq. People are acting as if Saddam didn't have a large stockpile of chemical weapons, that he didn't transfer them to Syria, and that Syrias current possession of chemical weapons ( Link) - which they could have only received from Saddam.

These news shows are designed for western audiences. For us English speakers, mostly non russians and non-iranians; they are carefully crafted propaganda aimed at the increasingly growing population which turns to alternative news sources for it's information, and distrusts everything about 'western media', as if the state owned media of Russia and Iran were somehow more factually credible.

Do you really believe that what comes out of MSM is real.

Is there real reporting on MSM? Well, hell yea, of course there is. As long as you want to talk about Justin's shoes or another stars reproductive habits.

Real reporting, they are state owned. With some brains, you can research close to what is really happening.

You seem blinded by darkness. When sanctions are imposed against Israel for the production of 100s of WMD then I will stand up and applaud. Personally, I would prefer Iran over Israel or Pakistan any day. In fact the scariest nation on earth is the USA. I just can't tell who really runs that place.

All countries are somewhat evil. It is because the ones in power have a belief that they do not have to obey their own laws.

Who runs the U.S.? Well although many people may think this is wrong the real power is held and has and always will be held by THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Whether the average person believes this or not or even the average U.S. Citizen...THEY are the true Power Holders and Brokers. It is only lack of participation which allows others to grab power in the U.S. but the American People could at any time sweep away these people but with a vote.

Or do you want people to ignore history and believe Iran is the threat with their WMD plans?

I agree entirely. It is absolutely critical that we have an understanding of history and the many aspects of what has happened in the past, so we may avoid repeating the worst mistakes of it across our future.

Now, in line with that, I'm going to note that Russia TV isn't just based in Russia, they are the owned subsidary and possession of the Government of the Russian Federation. They're as much owned by Moscow as Voice of America is a possession of the United States. There is a difference though. Russia demanded Voice of America halt all broadcasting into the Russian Federation and our current government complied with the demand. I can see it wasn't returned.

History is a critical thing to know....and history is why Russia TV is a reference for my research and absolutely never a primary source on internal American matters or questions of history where America has ANY mention. Everyone defines it differently though.

Hi Splitty,

So, since I despise the US government for their actions, are you saying that in reality it is the people of the USA that are truly responsible for all the killing of innocents decade after decade for the sole benefit of their weapons manufacturers.

Up to now, I have concluded that the people don't know, don't want to know and if they did know they would probably just sit on their keyboards and complain. You mean it really is their fault.

Thanks splitty

No, I don't doubt that it's controllers push their own agenda.

I'm just saying the truth can't be found through watching the news. You have to study.

Unfortunately, the nature of mass information media matches the nature of human beings; we don't all agree. Therefore, the parties which control the various 'outlets', from our western media, to Russia Today or PressTV, promote their own interests.

What Russia Today clamors about American invasions into Iraq is 'morally reprehensible', or so were given the impression, but if Russia were to invade countries, as they've done tens of times, it's ok, or irrelevant.

It's political games. Equip yourselves with information, not propaganda pieces that tell part of a story, while omitting crucial details or knowledge of the larger context.

When sanctions are imposed against Israel for the production of 100s of WMD then I will stand up and applaud

There is a fundamental difference between a secular liberal democracy having nukes (i.e. America, Britain, France etc), or an atheist regime (Russia, China), versus a theocratic fundamentalist and messianic Iran.

You would have to obscenely ignorant to trust the current Iranian regime with nuclear weapons. Not when the religion they follow - Shia Islam - believes their 12th Imam will return only amidst an environment of chaos.

But why include religion, right? Why should the the ideology of the party in question matter? (SARCASM)

Personally, I would prefer Iran over Israel or Pakistan any day.

Yeah, and I'm blinded by darkness

You do realize the Iranian regime regards western culture as the 'great satan'.

If you were a women, which you probably aren't, you wouldn't be allowed to walk around the streets of Iran without a Hijab. At 8 o'clock, if you're not with a man, you're breaking the law and will receive a police escort back to your house.

Yet you prefer Iran - which you clearly know nothing about - to Israel, a liberal democracy.

Yes, you are blinded. I may be half blind, but you are as blind as a bucket of soot.

The US follows the holy path of money, bowing to the shiny bricks of gold and the stacks of green paper. Special holy paper that only the chosen can use to print more paper in ever increasing amounts until the holy fiscal temple of insanity comes crashing down around their ears.

After that happens and the time frame is very similar to the one you mentioned, can you tell me what crazy national guard General will have his finger on the button.

The worst God of all on the entire Planet we call EARTH is the god of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. You will notice it has the shape of the serpent.

In a post financial apocalyptic America who will control the Nuclear arsenal. Are we truly conditioned to believe that the Corporations that manufacture these weapons have not put aside a few for their own use.

Yes I know, there are controls, just like there are controls that prevent high ranking officials from saying, we are missing a few Billion dollars. OOPS.

"America is evil Blah, Blah, Blah..."

God forbid we should have any other opinion to choose from, than the Western Media. When I watch RT, I get at least a different look. In fact they show video, something the West doesn't do. I don't care what they say as much as what they show. A few seconds of fighting, weapons and tactics tells me more than hours of news "reporters" interviewing each other across desks on CNN.

Just curious, do you think there is a conspiracy among Muslims to take over the civilized West? There is an undertone of fanatic alarmism at the root of your comments in this thread. Same thing with Slayer69, Neo96, and Soshh - there is a distinct paranoia which is undermining the logical progression of their responses.. You and they methodically steer distrust away from the West, and onto Arabs of any nation. It goes well beyond balanced reason, and to an objective viewer it is a fascinating phenomenon. I would suggest to be more aware of this in the future.

Not that Western sources have been caught Plagiarizing, but to Plagiarize "The Onion", and take it as your own?

Last Updated: Saturday, 6:13 p.m. Apparently unaware of the unwritten rules of both ethical journalism and satire, an Iranian news agency published an edited copy of a report from The Onion on Friday, without crediting the original or acknowledging that it was fiction.

Although the dateline for the news brief says that the reporting was done in Tehran by Fars, the first sentence is identical to the earlier Onion parody: “According to the results of a Gallup poll released Monday, the overwhelming majority of rural white Americans said they would rather vote for Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad than U.S. president Barack Obama.”

Iranian News Agency Plagiarizes The Onion

You really have to be careful, believing in ANY News source,Western media included. But when PressTV blatantly Plagiarizes The Onion, you cant take anything it says, as legitimate.

Period.

LOL! Your RIGHT! Being President of the United States is the toughest job in the World. You can see how every President AGES RAPIDLY over 4 to 8 years. They just quickly go Grey and their faces show the Thousand Yard Stare.

This is because of the vast amount of information they receive when they take office which surprises all of them. It is not how they BELIEVE the reality of the World is but what they are told as the TRUE REALITY of what really is going on in the World that ages them and takes it's toll.

What is even worse is that a U.S. President does NOT have the Highest Level of Clearance that exists. The President's clearance level is about 8 levels lower than the Top Level. The Higher Levels are only given on a NEED TO KNOW BASIS and there is a very good reason for this.
