I'll answer your question with a caveat. I don't support Obama. But I am voting for him. And here's why...

Mitt Romney is not going to repeal the Patriot Acts, I or II. He is not going to repeal NAFTA, nor the NDAA... not the Military Commissions Act either. He is not going to close Gitmo, stop Extraordinary Rendition, dismantle any cyber spying programs, nor restore any of our lost rights. He is not going to abolish the Fed. He is not going to rehab the tax code.

He is not going to be a savior.

What Romney WILL do, however, is why Obama gets my vote. Romney will champion supply side economics. He will make abortion an issue in this country yet again. He will further dismantle social programs. He will hurt the working poor and the middle class.

Will Obama do any better? I honestly cannot say. So far he's talked a good game, but not thrown too many strikes. At least his rhetoric has some social responsibility behind it. Romneys does not.

So, in casting my vote for Obama I at least vote for the guy who panders to my values. It's not much - but it is more than his opponent is willing to do.

You support Obama because you don't like Romney?
Did you know there are more then two people you can vote for?

Again I don't care about the "lesser evil" answers, sorry.

That pic is funny, thanks for that.

I don't know how anyone could vote for a traitor, and a coward, and that's exactly what Obama is. I'm not voting for the other guy either. And if someone asks me to explain my stance on Obama, and why I think this of him needs a lesson in current events.

It seems to me that people do have their reasons to vote for Obama.

Keeping their constitutional rights are obviously not important at all.

Annnddd the founding fathers take a roll in the grave.

I really wish the citizens of the USA would get past the left vs right, Republican or Democrat way of thinking. People only vote for one side because people think you have to vote that way. If people got together and refused to accept what we are being offered, things would change over night.

Its like deciding on a burger from McDonalds, or a burger from Jack in the Box, either way you go, you're gonna end up with a gut ache.

Everybody should vote with their heart and minds, with ALL options and parties considered.

I respect however anyone decides to vote, as long as they are not voting in ignorance. I have a hard time with "lesser of 2 evils", voting one side to spite the other side, and voting for personal gain. It is so much bigger than this.

I went through candidate by candidate, from all parties. I weighed their views and their stance on issues that are important to me and the country. Some decisions and views went in the pro column, others ended up in the cons. Some decisions/issues were flat out no-go for me. for example, I refuse to vote for anyone who supports, or voted for the NDAA. Period.

If even half of the country did this, the election would turn out very different. People seem to be so caught up on wanting their team to win they will put up with just about anything and it seems to be getting worse every election. Before long TPTB will be able to put Freddy Kruger himself up for president, just slap a red or blue jersey on him and the people will vote.

This aint american idol, its the future of the country.

Did you know that, despite it being a sad predicament, if you DO vote for one of the other candidates, you really are just throwing your vote away. Sad but true.

Again I don't care about the "lesser evil" answers, sorry.

Well then, I'd say you don't care about any of the answers you get, as I forgot who said it, but 'Jesus isn't on the ballot.'

For civil rights, Obama sucks; however, he is without a doubt the better candidate of the two, especially as it doesn't seem that austerity is one of his prime agendas.

1 Did you prepare for hurricane Sandy? You’re a potential terrorist.
2 Do you buy things with cash? You’re a potential terrorist.
3 Do you own a gun? You’re a potential terrorist.
4 Did you server in the United States Military? You’re a potential terrorist.
5 Switch the SIM card of your cell phone? You’re a potential terrorist.

Maybe you should look up the word "potential" to understand what it actually means.

Yes, if someone does those things, he might be a *potential* terrorist. This is entirely correct.

If authorities search for suspects, be it a terrorist or a serial killer or whatever...they usually make a list of how to recognize them, and/or how to exclude non suspects quickly...based on their M.O....eg. what would a terrorist do..what would a murder/serial killer do.

So..from that point of view, yes someone who owns a gun is a POTENTIAL TERRORIST, someone who always buys stuff with cash is a potential terrorist, someone with a military background could be a potential terrorist.

Unless you have something to hide...what, again, is your problem with that?

For police etc, it's an effective way to close in from a large number of random individuals to a much smaller one, based on such criteria. Read a few true crime novels, you might be able to understand.

As an argument that "Obama is a socialist" (oh my, yawn!) it's just plain...dumb. Will you deny that terrorists do in fact EXIST and there is a need to develop ways how to recognize them?

Socialism or Communism? I agree Communism is an abject failure (as is unchecked Capitalism). I believe Socialism works quite well in the majority of the countries in the world..

Yes, someone in a right wing policy think tank giggles every time someone parrots the Socialism = Communism talking point.. It is pure misinformation created to trigger an emotional response..

According to islamic tradition, In A.D. 621, at the age of 51, Mohammed was awakened by the archangel Gabriel, who invited him to come outside.
As he stepped through the door, he was introduced to a huge white horse with giant wings like an eagle. Gabriel told him that the horse once belonged to Abraham, and that his name was El Barack (or Buraq) meaning, “White horse” and "Lightning".
Allah told Mohammed that in the end of days, when the “day of recompense” arrives, the flying white horse will return for the resurrected Mohammed to mount and ride again.
Barack Hussein Obama is an islamic jihadist disguised as a Christian.

Or a horse if you take it literally. If you believe in fairytales I guess it would be of relevance. He could be the tooth fairy for all I care he is still a better choice than Mitt.

I considered giving you an honest answer, but you're honestly just a troll. You don't care why people vote the way they do. You just care that your view is somehow superior than mine. You're the kind of person that would deliberately try to prevent someone from voting because you believe they're wrong and will violate their right to express their opinions in an attempt to prove yours is the 'correct' way.

I've dealt with the likes of you plenty of times in plenty of forums and formats. You don't agree to disagree, you insist that yours is the one true path to something called 'freedom.' Something that you can't even quantify. Something, that when directly confronted with, you scamper away screaming, "Socialist! Communist! Tyrant!"

No, I won't answer your question...not because I have no reasons, but because I'm not going into your pitfalls and pigeonholed answers. "The only answer I want is the one I want to hear."

Maybe you did not read all the posts, maybe you're a coward, butI don't know/care what you think I want to hear.
I wanted to see if anyone had a real answer and not an ignorant rant. There are (i believe) two post only, that give a real reason,I don't agree with them, but I respect them.

Out of all the pro-Obama post I have seen on ATS in the last 6 months, I was hoping for more post about what he has done for his supports and why they support him. As you can see out of rants like yours, some people can't give a real answer, think the USC is worthless, are stuck in a blue, red frame of mind as if it was a football game.

I guess in the end, tonight will only serve one purpose. If puppet Romney wins, the "PTB" know they can't push to far so fast, if puppet Obama wins they know the sheep are ready to be slaves and they will push "foreword" with there plans. But that's just a "conspiracy theory"

Socialism is a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.

But again it does not matter if Obama is, or just was a socialist, he IS a traitor to the USA.

This reason, above all others, is why I will be voting tomorrow to give President Obama a second term:
The Republican Party's stated disregard for the health and safety of American citizens and the health of our natural environment in favor of the all mighty dollar.

From the 2012 Republican platform:

For example, we believe people are the most valuable resource, and human health and safety are the most important measurements of success. A policy protecting these objectives, however, must balance economic development and private property rights in the short run with conservation goals over the long run.

How's that work? They are willing to degrade their stated most valuable resource, human health and safety for profits and property rights.

More points from their plan:

Congress should reconsider whether parts of the federal government’s enormous landholdings and control of water in the West could be better used for ranching, mining, or forestry through private ownership.

Awesome. Let's take our nations' national parks, monuments, and forest lands, including pristine wilderness, that belong to every one of us, and sell them to the highest bidder. And smarter still, "control of water" to private ownership. How is that going to work?

One more:

The Republican Party supports appointing public officials to federal agencies who will properly and correctly apply environmental laws and regulations, always in support of economic development, job creation, and American prosperity and leadership.

Environmental laws and regulations are to protect our human environment. Period. If the regulations cause a company higher costs or to go bankrupt, so be it. Find another means of profit, that doesn't include raping my living environment for your personal gain.

I don't see how stating in your platform that you're willing to compromise the health of our environment and our people in pursuit of profits and jobs is moral, ethical or displaying good sense.

Without clean water to drink, pollution-free air to breathe or wild, unspoiled acres to roam, all the freedoms and liberties you are worried about losing mean nothing.

sigh

Just like Obama you want to focus on the little picture and not the big picture being the economy.Who gives a damn when no jobs under Obama?!!!!!!!

I'm sorry my views make you sigh, but I believe passionately in regulations to protect our natural resources.

Full employment won't matter if we degrade our most basic resources to the point that they are not safe or usable. What good is having a paycheck to pay the water bill, if the water coming from your tap will sicken your children? Or their children?

I believe in the ingenuity of the American people to develop our energy resources in a way that doesn't do permanent damage. But continued sustainability of our ecosystem is far more important to America's future success, than politically expediant job creation at the environments expense.

I want my son to inherit a relatively healthy land, and that's why I voted Democrat.

I should add, there is no need for you to fret, Mr. Romney will win my county 2-1. McCain did 4 years ago. President Obama has no shot in my local area, unfortunately.
