The Kuwaiti opposition recently took a majority of votes in a Kuwaiti election, where one family holds power and political parties are banned. The government has now changed the voting rules, which would prevent the opposition from winning again in the future.

The people of Kuwait aren't having any of it.

That is pretty crazy. Reading up on the situation now. From what I have read the police are trying to escalate the situation by yelling obscenities at the protesters, but the protesters for the most part are not taking the bait. Hope the situation doesn't get out of hand.

Thanks for posting this. Im reading through the articles right now and looking for some more sources, hopefully this doesn't turn out like the rest of the mid east "uprisings" of the past year.

Up to 200,000 protesters...that is huge for an organized protest.

It's considered huge in America, but average in the Arab world.

Those royal families don't want to give up power.

I guess all the free money and subsidies they give out don't go as far as it used to.
