www.bbc.co.uk...

Police in Thailand discovered 16 tiger cubs in the back of a pick-up truck, after the driver tried to avoid a highway checkpoint. The driver told police he was paid 15,000 baht (£300) to deliver the cubs from a Bangkok suburb to northeastern Udon Thani province on the border with Laos. Thailand is a hub of the international black market for protected animals and wildlife parts, often used for traditional East Asian medicines. The driver could face a four-year jail term and 40,000 baht (£800) fine on wildlife smuggling-related charges. The cubs were taken away to be cared for by wildlife officials. Katy Hastings reports.

If you are talking about the ones in Detroit, I don't think there is any good news for those cats. Except they may be on vacation after tomorrow night.

No news is good news I guess. Did you know between 1911 and 1994 16,152 people were killed by tigers in India?

Lmao thought this thread was going to be about the Detroit Tigers.

For a minute I thought Matt Cain had come down with some serious food poisoning!

The Asian and Oriental males think eating tiger penis gives them some kind of special gift. I think they do this because they have tiny little peckers and they need all the help they can get. They seem awfully obsessed with their tiny genitalia in that part of the world.

Believe me, I'm not justifying this. I think one of the most cowardly things to do is kill an animal.

There is an article on dailymail.co.uk

The tigers are one to two years old and look okay. They are being cared for by animal specialists - thank goodness.
They are beautiful but would look even better out of the damn containers they were packed in.

Much Peace...

about the wife jab. That's why I love the bachelor lifestyle. If you wake up next to something like this, you can just run far, far away
I just looked up the snake deaths each year worldwide. An estimated 90,000 people are killed each year by snakes. Holy frickin' cow!!!!!

Thats the best story I have heard in a long time. I can't believe that Chinese Medicine includes things like Tiger Penis and that they really think it makes them MEN more viril. For a socieity that has taken such leaps in technology that they still cling to their stupid unproven beliefs about certain forms of this kind of medicine when it means endangering already endangered species. What a backward civilization. Makes no sence to me at all in this day and age. It pisses me off big time. Its so totally irresponsible and reckless.

What a horrible and happy story! Whatever happened to the cubs' mothers? Where they killed or were the cubs from captive tigers?

The driver now faces the possibility of a four-year jail term or a fine of 40,000 baht ($1,300; £800) on wildlife-smuggling charges.

Wow. 4 years is a long time in a Thai jail. Is it long enough as a deterrent? When tigers are hovering on the edges of extinction, it'd be good to see countries using life-sentences. Also, I know the fine is a lot of money to a poor person in Thailand, but seriously?? For the lives of tigers and their continued existence?! Is that ^^ amount gonna put anyone off the chance of getting rich?

I hope those cubs have a chance to survive and live in the wild. It'll be a shame if they become part of the majority tiger population reared in captivity. I think there are more tigers in the USA than in their own habitat. It's crazy.
