This is epic!
Its like a remote controlled car but so, so much better..

I would love ones which can walk up and down walls and ceilings

If we can do this..

Then I'm sure we can rustle up a spider/monkey/helicopter spy gadget thingy.

Very Cool!

Somehow, someway, someone is going to weaponize it tho.

I'm thinking the US Military.

"Spidey Drone"

Peace

This is like the absolute birth-point of METROID.

Samus had a beginning somewhere in their alternate reality, this is ours.

Awesome find!

I'll need one of the "spider-ball" bots to keep the grandkid busy and the "spy-copter" just in case the hubby ever starts acting stupid!

That's an awesome design. Add gps, simple command structure and a good camera and you'll have an excellent spy drone.

I had no idea they had drone like this for sale.

Looks like I just figured out half my christmas shopping list for people this year... ardrone.parrotshopping.com...

They have it for some time already
) Be sure to buy the second version ( 2.0 I believe ) , it is vastly improved over the original

Sadly the drone has only WiFi connection , and that limits it quiet a bit .. I so wish that somebody would make a mode for gps connection , this would rock so much as it would give it a much much longer reach than just the crappy WiFi distance

The coolest thing I have seen in a while. Thank you very much for sharing.

They need to improve the battery as well in that case.
Lasts about 15 minutes in normal conditions. Shorter if motors work hard.

I think there is a company that makes a battery that gives about 30 min of flight time when you install it . Its not official ,but its made specially to fit in the parrot drone and people reported having no problems with it from what I remember.

Sadly I can see it. Spider bombs. You all know they are already in production.
But it would be cool to hook a camera up to it so you can watch your house while you're away, perhaps attach a string launcher so you can play with your cats?

There are drones that you can use to watch your house already . One is called Rovio which is a mobile drone with a camera and the second one I forgot the name but basically its a robot/tripod with a camera that you can hook to a wifi network. I don;t know about the quality of the video but the option is there if you want it
And I guess you could always tweak it a bit to suit your needs

Well there you go then, problem solved

Considering the price, it is still a great little machine.
Other quadcopters costs at least the double. Hexacopters about five times more and octocopters makes most wallets explode.
Sure the bigger ones can cary a bigger payload, but non the less, AR-drone is very cool.

I am just thinking about a few of my friends homes that are in the 5-6000 sq ft range. I think this will be perfect for that. And I'm pretty sure people will be waking up to drones carrying condoms, dangling on their head, or some other nonsense.

This is cool to say the least. This could have applications on another planet, as it would be hard to lose it in a crater or something, as it could just roll into a ball. Getting out may be difficult, but it could be solved. It looks pretty cute for a robot too. Very neat, but I agree that it could be weaponized. It could roll up to protect itself and its components as well.
