Steelheart - I'll never let you go (Angel Eyes).

The song and the dawn of my gay youth are forever fused.

First love ... first rock ballad.

Every time I listen I'm not sure if I'm going deaf from the piercing vocals, or mute after trying to sing with them.

Ya know…I didn't expect a "love lost" to show up and DJ for her ex's Heartbreak Hotel party.

But I have a confession to make: I have also been thinking about what songs that I can remember about some of those to whom I am the "love lost"...Vain, ain't it?

Both of us I mean!!

I enjoyed your reminiscing with that perfect, cool, hair-band ballad of a backdrop.

Thanks for spinning your song, DJ.

To all the young men who were conscripted, and lost their lives in the Cold War.

Today they are often no longer recognized.
Today the memory of these young men is lost, and the history is treated like they were criminals.

"Kaplyn" - Bok Van Blerk.

The "kaplyn" (cut-line) was a deforested area that marked the Angolan border.

Afrikaans with English subtitles:

I watched, I listened, I laughed.

But you can't pull that and expect to walk away scott free. Your punishment is listening to this impressive vocal performance:

Well, that's all right, mama
That's all right for you
That's all right mama, just anyway you do
Well, that's all right, that's all right.
That's all right now mama, anyway you do

Mama she done told me,
Papa done told me too
'Son, that gal your foolin' with,
She ain't no good for you'
But, that's all right, that's all right.
That's all right now mama, anyway you do

I'm leaving town, baby
I'm leaving town for sure
Well, then you won't be bothered with
Me hanging 'round your door
Well, that's all right, that's all right.
That's all right now mama, anyway you do

Okay. Broadway. That was a good one. I have to play though. Wasn't expecting Broadway. Funny where they can hit ya from.

My "love lost" had seen a lot of Broadway growing up. So on our first vacation together one of the things she wanted to share with me was her favorite: Phantom of the Opera.

This is from the film version that I haven't seen, but I thought their take on it was pretty kickin'. Check it out.

I wonder what the poor girl (she put up with a lot to say the least ahem) thinks of this song when she hears it now.

A former Afrikaans struggle song with English subtitles.

There's something about this song, it's one you put on after having infidelity ruin something special. It's like a swirling cloud of smoke, stop resisting and breathe it in.

"Sour Times"

To pretend no one can find
The fallacies of morning rose
Forbidden fruit, hidden eyes
Courtesies that I despise in me
Take a ride, take a shot now

'Cause nobody loves me
It's true
Not like you do

Covered by the blind belief
That fantasies of sinful screens
Bear the facts, assume the dye
End the vows, no need to lie, enjoy
Take a ride, take a shot now

'Cause nobody loves me
It's true
Not like you do

Who am I, what and why?
'Cause all I have left is my memories of yesterday
Oh these sour times

'Cause nobody loves me
It's true
Not like you do

After time the bitter taste
Of innocence, decent or race
Scattered seeds, buried lives
Mysteries of our disguise revolve
Circumstance will decide ....

'Cause nobody loves me
It's true
Not like you do

'Cause nobody loves me
It's true
Not like you
Nobody loves.. me
It's true
Not, like, you.. do

I'm not a hateful person anymore. But it brings me back to a awesomely screwed up relationship. We were angry kids we hated many things together
. Then she broke my angry heart....screwed me up for awhile sent me into a drunken drugged out funk. But I'm a better person these days, last I heard she's the same scared lost little girl she always was.

Thank you Gut, I deserved that. I'm starting to feel sane again. (But not quite)
Here is a beautiful, heartfelt rendition of "I would Have Wrote you a Letter but I couldn't spell @#$%^%$"
For some reason it just means more coming from Mitzi Macintosh. Heals my heart every time.

Let the healing begin.
