Georgia Rep. Paul Broun said in videotaped remarks that evolution, embryology and the Big Bang theory are "lies straight from the pit of hell." The Republican lawmaker made those comments during a speech Sept. 27 at a sportsman's banquet at Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell. Broun, a medical doctor, is running for re-election in November unopposed by Democrats.

I just read this and while it really doesn't surprise me that Rep. Broun, being a devout christian, made these comments, Its the fact that this guy sits on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology!!!

That's right, a man with a PhD sitting on a science and technology committee believes that the world is 9000 years old and was made in 6 days!
It is just astounding that this guy is allowed to sit on such a committee! How can he justify his position? This just proves the hypocrisy of the christian-right has no bounds.

You realize we live in a nation that's form of government is a representative Republic correct? Not everyone believes Darwinian evolution to be true.

76% of the US population claims to identify themselves as Christians.

It stands to reason some of our representatives would hold Christian view points.

As for him sitting on a science panel, well its always good to have a contrasting view point in any endeavor, it also shows that a large portion of the US population is represented on said panel.
