Well, it's assumed to be a hair due to it's size and thickness, could also be some type of thread. The "c" wasn't on earlier prints but it was found on one much later on so it's safe to say it was just something on the scanner when the photo was digitized. Or the opposite side of the story is that the "c" picture is the original and all the other ones are airbrushed. That theory, however, requires asking the question, why would anybody put a "c" on a fake rock in the first place?

Correct...

And the "C" isn't even on all of the scanned pictures of that rock from that same batch of scans. There is a picture of that same rock taken from a different angle that does NOT have a "C". Although some would argue that one the one photo, the "C" was airbrushed out (and for some unknown reason the other was not).
