That video is really fascinating for many reasons
the fact that after all 32 metronomes are being started by 2 person
it take around 15 seconds to start them individualy
but after a while like it was all calculated in advance .. they eventualy all sync up like a charm

or like an army of soldiers that only needed a push from a finger


This video can be put you in a trance very quick if you are tired
so please dont watch it if you are not well



a poster on YT say the table was moving to sync all of them
im not an expert with metronomes but yes it could be just a trick

The table is moving, which is why they synch up.

Brilliant post....................reminds me of my old piano lessons when I was a kid with the Metronome on top of the piano, but it wasn't as loud as that...haha

You can start to hear the Metronomes coming into sync at about 1min 8 secs, well that's what I personally thought and the last one to come into sync is located bottom right, one from the front, but he eventually catches up with the rest.............but does sound like a load of soldiers marching down the road........

I think i know why this happens, The white platform all metronoms are on is swinging, you clearly can see this
after a while (look at the letters on that tablet on the right side)
I think this makes the effect happen.
I would like to see the same test with a 100% fixated platform and look if all metronoms are syncing.

@loam In the text ( Your link WHY) i just red it, what i though was the reason.
"For classroom demonstrations I always first place the metronomes on the table and show the class that the uncoupled oscillators do not synchronize but just oscillate quasiperiodically. Then I place the oscillators on the movable platform and demonstrate synchronization"

Bwahahaha... there always is "that one guy" that avoids conforming as long as possible. Waiting for the last one to get in sync I was rooting for it to hold out.
