THE spectre of Islamic terrorism in Australia has been reignited after police yesterday conducted sweeping raids across southeastern Melbourne in which 11 homes were searched, weapons were seized and one person was arrested for terror-related offences. A 23-year-old man was expected to be charged with terrorism-related offences last night after he was allegedly found with material that had the potential to incite violence.

www.theaustralian.com.au...

If you live in Australia I suggest you be careful about what you google. We can be arrested for contemplating terrorism. How do you prove that? How do you defend yourself?

It is being reported that the guy had guns but it seems they were registered.

The Australian public is so dumb and racist nobody will care. But this is wrong.

Australia is an awesome place. Australians have nothing to fear. We do not need to be giving so much money to the bs 'War On Terror'. ASIO is just trying to justify all those tax dollars that they waste.

This is wrong.

If you use the tools given to us, like computers and the internet, then you are playing in their field and under their authority.
ATS should move off-line to HAM radio only

Ha! You sound like you could have something to hide. I hope you are not Australian. ASIO will be knocking down your door before you know it.

Yeah. Its pretty scary.

Its also a bit hard to work out what they consider to be a terrorist. The west fights terrorists in Afghanistan but then funds these same people in Libya and Syria. And they call them 'rebels and 'freedom fighters'.

We have always been at war with eurasia I guess.

I look at a heap of stuff on the net but that doesnt mean I want to hurt anyone. There seems to be no evidence that this guy was planning to hurt anyone.

I would like to know exactly what he is accused of.

Me too.It could be anything.

Like ATS posts for example. We have seen people charged over stuff they put on twitter and fb. How long before they come after people on sites like ATS?

Its easy to take someone out of context.

They war on terror does seem to target young people, dumb people, pretend people and dead people. Im not young, dumb, pretend or dead so I should be good. Im also not a terrorist which should help. Still freaky though.

A propaganda witch hunt, creating fear when there should be none.

Creating racism and hatred….. all from the American playbook.

ASIO can go and suck the big one, a bunch of useless freaks almost as corrupt as the alphabet agencies of the US.

I really wish our government was different to the US, but unfortunately it’s just another lap dog licking its own nuts and that of the US government as well.

hmmmm may i suggest that if you live in Australia and have licensed fire arms that you make an extra special effort to distance yourself from anything that could be interpreted as extremism regardless of your religious beliefs?

It would seem that the Victorian Muslim community outed these men and bookstore and brought them to the attention of Victoria police. Thank you Australian Muslims for being vigilant and helping keep Australia free from Islamic extremism

So in your eyes they are guilty without any due process or trial?

This is the type of fear and hatred that is created from the outset - it’s a shame that some can’t see past the stage show.

Wow.

Just...wow.

May I suggest that you only think government approved thoughts. Then you have nothing to worry about.

no, the man arrested may very well be innocent. If he is charged he will get due process and a trial to determine if he is guilty of a crime.

I have nothing to worry about because i do not posses, promote or produce extremist material that has the potential to incite violence.

I have zero love for our foreign policy and American arse licking government but I certainly don't want armed extremists inciting violence in Australia.

Na mate that,s not right. ASIO is just carrying out orders and making sure we have our share of terrorist 'scares' to keep the sheeple suitably afraid so that the tag team in Canberra can pass the same laws as have been passed in the U.S,, with a different name of course.

This is becoming the Australian norm, the government is piling on everything from taxes to laws and beyond on "maybe's." The same goes for this as goes the Carbon Tax, how the hell do you charge someone with contemplated terrorism? To me thats like saying anyone who thinks about killing someone, whether they plan to follow it up or not, is guilty of contemplated murder. Frankly, it's a joke and it shows just how far the Australian government will go to clamp down on it's people and create the totalarian state as a map for the world to follow.

It's good to have you back on the boards G.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Convenient!

So, why would someone have documents that "facilitate a terrorist attack"?

Seems it's a normal thing to have going by the responses here!
