Police: Shooter in Wash. woods fires at SWAT team

ARLINGTON, Wash. (AP) – A shooter in woods north of the Seattle area fired at SWAT team and other police officers Sunday after law enforcement responded to reports that a man had been shot in the leg in his driveway, authorities said.

The man was shot about 1:30 p.m. and called authorities before he was taken to a hospital with a non-life threatening injury, said Lt. Steve Dittoe, of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. The resident told deputies he had been hearing shots for about 15 minutes.

Police continued to search for the shooter or shooters near Arlington in Snohomish County.

Shooter(s) in the woods firing at anything moving and now are in a fire fight with SWAT? What is going on these days? More and more it's becoming common place for shootings? Who are these people that commit such heinous crimes and why do they do it? So far no suspects have been caught or named, just a fire fight and running, I guess. Conspiracy theorists, what say you? Are these planned episodes to have our rights stripped away in the name of safety?

I'm not so sure it's people staging this to take away rights as much as it is an indicator of the times.

I don't believe we need anyone to orchestrate this type of stuff, I believe our society is completely capable of causing this chaos itself. I'm surprised we don't see more of this stuff than we do. Our society has a completely backwards set of logic, morals, and ethics.

A crazy shooter scenario, as bad as it is, may only become a more common thing as time goes on.

I completely agree with you but there's always that what if. Although these shootings reek of crazy and not staged. Someone is sitting in the woods and firing at cars, people, animals, whatever moves, and now SWAT. Whoever is doing the shooting I wonder if they've hit the bottom of the barrel and this how they want to go out because they are so angry? Or are they high on drugs and delusional? Perhaps some CIA mind control program in effect? Alex Jones will raving about this tomorrow, if he doesn't take the day off.

The scary part is these shootings seem to be more and more frequent, but the scariest part is you'll never see them coming.

Whether it is a conspiracy, or simply the result of your opinion, it WILL "become a more common thing as time goes on".

The point of the OP, IMO is to get us to consider either possibilty.
Not to assume the reason and then pat ourselves on the back when it comes to fruition.

What most people don't realize is that today is the four year anniversary for a mass shooting about half an hour from this recent shoot-out. The similarities are scary and I do not believe in the coincidences.

Six people died four years ago, including a deputy, a friend of mine named Anne. The killer was Isaac Zamora and is now housed in a mental hospital. He came out of the woods and started killing people in their homes and killed Anne when she responded alone to the call for a mental problem, not knowing he had started shooting people.

Four years ago...a man in the woods near homes in a town called Alger. That call came in around 2pm.

Today...someone in the woods shooting near homes in a town called Arlington. The call came in around 1:30.

I don't know what is going on, but I hope that no lives are lost today.

I'd imagine if there were anti-government groups in the woods and they started shooting at police, that the spin doctors would be out in full force to prevent a realization of what's happening.

or it's just some crazy guy on a grudge revenge rampage? who knows, it's all just speculation.

Interesting the video says there is more then one shooter and the swat team has been taking fire from several different types of weapons hand guns and rifles...

Whether it is a set up or not it will be used to promote the anti gun agenda as always. Some crazy is shooting at people so lets take away peoples right to self defense...

As for speculative conspiracy theories it could even be some folks whose rights were violated and had enough and decided to make a stand instead of submitting to tyranny but we'll never know because you know the MSM will always report it as some crazies shooting innocent people instead of patriots standing up for their rights.

That's a tragic story and I'm sorry for your loss of your friend Anne. I hope she rests in peace.

You do point out a very odd thing, a thing none of us would have known, and I'm with you about not believing in coincidences. I'll be on the look out for any new information about these shootings.

Yep I could see these three as well.

Maybe wait until some more facts come in before breaking out the jump to conclusions mat? I would like to get a better understanding of the incident before I start to lay the blame on anyone.

It could have TONS of motivations.

Jealously over a broken heart/cheating
Revenge plot.
Money.
Stolen items.
Drugs.
Attempted theft.

Politics is the very LAST thing that comes to my mind when I hear of a shooting.

maaybe the shots comming out of the woods are simply some idiots having target practice and the are unaware of where their fires are directed....Its happened before......
Maybe if the SWAT guys shoot back....they will wake up and appoligise.........but if SWAT is trying to get a handle on this they will be likely not returning fire unless confronted by someone.....
The guy shot in the leg didnt seem to have a lot to say......if he didnt see a shooter it could be over- shooting a target or something as stupid....

Just to clarify, I have alibies and was nowhere near the shootings.

An update:

UPDATED at 10:15 p.m. PT: One suspect in this shooting is dead, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish County, Wash., sheriff's office told the Seattle Times Sunday night. The spokeswoman, Shari Ireton, told the Times that police didn't know for sure whether there was more than one shooter but that they were operating under the assumption that another suspect was at large.
