You know, when you actually think about this phrase, bored to tears, it really makes no real sense in the matter. I can imagine people being very bored with absolutely nothing to do. But really....

Have you ever know anyone to actually cry because they were too bored?
'
So when you think about it, nobody really gets literally bored to tears, just very bored.

The only reason to cry is one of sadness. At least as far as I know, boredom never really causes sadness because everything is just too mediocre for words. You need to have some sort of event that causes such sadness, such as a person dying or a divorce or a bunch of people following you around insulting you all to hell and back.

So really, this is A very illogical statement. At the very least, it is untrue.

Because nobody literally gets bored to tears.

When I get bored, I yawn. When I yawn, I tear up.

Ok, my initial response is....

The same could be said for just about every saying ever mentioned...

Figure of speech... Speech has no figure to speak of.

At the end of the day.... Well, it just ends (and is usually time for a beer).

It's just the way it is... What way is that?

I could go on, but I'm bored to tears and far, far too drunk to care....
