So, since most other platforms are not religious, that do this, it's ok for them? Or were you meaning to single out religion?

I would single out all religions in general. I wouldn't really have much of a problem with their preaching if it was along the lines of "MY god loves you and that's all i have to say" But unfortuently the purpose of preachers being on the streets is to convert people - Which should be banned.

Major religions are just cults when you get to the bottom of them.

Well to be honest, if he hadn't gone to the parking lot and started "preaching" there, and had kept it to his Church, none of this would have happened. Sure, it's not a good thing that it had happened, but there is a time and a place for everything.

And don't try and give me the whole "Freedom of Speech, the Constitution allows it", because there is a difference between Freedom of speech, and trying to convert people. The way I see it, he was being a public menace. People should be able to go shopping without having to worry about, or think "damn, am I going to have to put up with a Preacher being at the parking lot?". It's all well and good to have your own beliefs, but as soon as it starts to infringe on other peoples thoughts and beliefs, thats where Freedom of Speech goes out the window, and being a public nuisance comes into play.

A few weeks ago, I saw a bunch of liberals “PREACHING” about the fall of capitalism. Now imagine if a couple disgruntle republicans ran up and did the same thing as the two meth heads in this story. Not only would it piss off every liberal running around out there, but it would be the #1 story on the news.

This says it all...

A lot of liberals want their cake, and eat it too.

Ok. You want proof? I can hand you a website full of people like me- who have been pretty much raped by the church and christians. I simply cannot do this alone- and I refuse to. All I will say I was in the same boat as these people. Oh, and BTW- running through the first 2 stories and then coming on here to wail about a "few" ex christians is a total liar. But then, christians excel in lying for their god's "glory".
the site is exchristian.org. Go on. Have a trip there and see what christianity has done to millions- and these people are only a small slice of that!

You want to see WHY people hate christians- go on. read the testimonies of people who have been ripped to shreds by your god, your religion, and your people. I challenge each one of you here.

Don't you mean ripped to shreds by "people" doing things in the name of other things?

Hating God and Jesus because people who follow these 2 have wronged you, is like hating guns because certain people have used them to kill people or hating the internet because those who like child porn use the net to get more of it.

The thing itself is not the same as those who like the thing.

Perhaps in the same light as the exchristians website, we should have exgunowner, exinternetuser, exbeerdrinker, etc.

I've been wronged by both Christians and Atheists. The first got a whole Church and others to be against me, and the latter got me fired from my job which I really liked. That's just two examples. But based on what your saying I should now hate Christianity and hate Atheism?

I wish these people would mind their business and keep their faith off others. No one wants this crap forced on them!
No one gives a s**t how holy and righteous you are!

Yea, I'm sure you're not exaggerating in the slightest.

I don't even remember the last time I was "accosted" by Christians to be perfectly honest. Once, in a mall, I was approached by a member of a local church and was invited to join.

I can't tell you how many times I've been "accosted" by militant-atheists though. Swearing and spitting in my general area, even though I never asked for their opinion.

I don't agree with religion.
I disagree even more with people shoving their beliefs down my throat.
I disagree with being labelled because I may have a certain view which disagrees with you (even though other of my views may agree with you).

However I disagree most of all with people using violence because they disagree with another's non-violent or non-threatening beliefs.

Grow up people.

Singling out religions for stating such hateful things leads the way for ANY platform that might say something "hateful" to be eventually under the same restrictions.

So, you don't need a God/god to state things like: this is morally wrong! Some gays are right now stating that it is morally wrong for them to be denied marriage. Since they are the media's darling today, they wouldn't be refused the right to their soapbox, today. But give it 10 years, and another power in place, and them stating this on a soapbox could be labeled the same difference as the religious group denied the soapbox previously. People don't get that even if you hate it, if you don't defend the freedoms of the things you hate, they will eventually be denied to you.

Nah, don't need to. Did the same thing at exCOC.com a few years ago. I know it does happen. Doesn't change my stance on anything I've stated.

Everyday life? Nah,, there usually isn't much.

There was an increase with certain things:

1. On a campus, and obviously young.
2. In venues where "sinners" should be, with the "preachers" as close to it as they can tolerate.
3. Dress-triggered. Gothic tended to get more "do you believe in Jesus?" convos.

So, I could theoretically see it happening, although I've not been "accosted" in years.

Actually, that sounds a lot like the Laotian who was Ancestor-worship, some sort of Buddhist-raised, but turned Christian late-in-life ON Christianity. While some may state things that have NEVER been out of their faith, I've seen plenty that have been "immersed" in other religions that talk the same way about Christianity, when they come to it.

Really.

Where exactly in actual real life have you met these atheists?

Well, most "militant" anything is generally derived from "someone disagreeing with you enough to break up conversations out of nowhere." To that end, you could be called a militant atheist. Kind of a mislabel, but it still happens.

Really out of nowhere? I've had it happen 2 times, my entire life, maybe 3? One was from a podium of a classroom by the teacher, in a setting where you could get thrown out for disrupting the class if you needed to disagree with them.

Well, morally, I say, not no, but HELL NO!

But, at the same time, if they destroy that part of the brain, but still have people that believe in a God, they may be forced to accept that some people use logic and reason to com to their conclusions. lol!

The question was - - - where in REAL LIFE have you met these militant atheists.

Sorry - - - but classroom does not qualify as every day real life.

Just out in general public. When have you met a militant atheist - - - in general everyday life?

2-3 times, only 1 specifically in a classroom. Hrm, so if a teacher starts spewing "God is love--facts" in a classroom you wouldn't count them as militant?

1 time in college, was having a private conversation, with a friend, that someone, who was atheist, that neither of us knew, butted into. I don't even remember what the subject was, but I do remember what they started in on--we weren't tlaking all that loud, and it was just between us. "God is an outdated concept, and any conversation using him as a starting point is from neanderthals..." I was wondering how this person even heard my comment enough to just jump in there on that tangent--literally what I was thinking. It does happen.

There might have been another time or two, dunno...it wasn't enough to make a memory of. So I wouldn't really count them. Far more likely to come across those that atheism is the secondary issue that's got them all up in arms, and they want to introduce everyone to the joys of gay sex. That, I don't count as a militant atheist--or at least never had. Had a buddy like that, in high school. He really was annoying, poor thing. Had that perfect ability to make everyone instantly uncomfortable.

Although I do find it funny when people have to announce that their atheist over idioms. *sneeze* "God bless you!" "There's no God that can bless me!" or far more often: "I am an atheist, you know." When it's minor, and an everyday thing, is it really time to have a potential battle royale over it?

Well you've made my point.

I don't count college. College is a time of learning - expression of ideas - - etc - - in a controlled setting.

Fact is - - - rarely if ever - - - does one just happen to come across an atheist in general public every day life.

Let alone a militant one.

Problem is that this wasn't some kid, in either case. I was younger than either by miles, one time, no less than 5-10 years younger than the other, at 24. So we can count it as a place of learning, sure, but under those same circumstances, I can find 2 people of the Christian bent, in or out of school, the same age as these people, and have the other end of the spectrum.

I live a town over from a college town. I work a job where i'm likely to have college coworkers. I come on sites like this, and come across college students. Many of them, at the time, were not 1st timers. We have heavy mid-life crisis college student population.

The only reason I don't count my 18 year old coworker is that he may make the hard line statements, and then backs off and asks me if he's right for this stuff. Sad that the kid has to get confirmation from the christian that his viewpoint is right. (Asking about how pointless it is to go to church, by force, when you don't agree with it. Yes it's pointless, for that person. Not by far his only question. Not fun balancing a totally alien worldview to his vs. trying to reassure him that some of his reactions are quite normal. *sigh*)

But if you noticed earlier, on ME? I actually pointed out that a lot of the places where I find the "Do you believe in Jesus?" people are on a college campus (one of 3). I don't face that as much outside that venue. So I already kind of had this viewpoint posted?

If you've haven't actually met and spoke with an atheist in real life everyday life (not controlled setting college).

You haven't. Which is exactly what I thought.

No one yet who I've asked - - who's made this claim - - has been able to back it up.
