"Six people were confirmed dead and at least 31 others feared killed after a landslide buried a passenger bus and a truck in western Nepal.

Army and local rescuers struggled frantically to remove huge boulders covering the bus which was travelling to Palpa, about 390 kilometres west of Kathmandu, from Tamghas village in Gulmi district.

The massive landslide fell from a hilltop at Dhovan in western Nepal, Palpa District Police post Sub-Inspector Laxman K.C. said.

The Western Zonal Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Federation said it had sold 35 tickets to passengers while other people were believed to have been picked up along the roadside.

Rescuers pulled the bodies of the truck driver and his helper from the debris."
