I have seen very little air play on this story but in April 2012 Saudi Arabia refused to send women athletes to the Olympic Games. The IOC (International Olympic Committee) were then thinking of banning Saudi Arabia on account of its discrimination.

Then on 11th July, Saudi Arabia changed their minds, they would send two females

I find it incredulous that a country in this day and age can even consider not sending women (they were the only country to do this). I also find it harder that this has not hit the main news - people should be demonstrating about this inequality. This is a basic human right that is far more controversial than say the Syrian team turning up.
