ABC News reported a possible "connection" to a "Tea Party" man with the same name as the theater shooter suspect.
It seems they "made the connection" in name only (Jim Holmes is the suspect's name - a common name).

Of course they made an official "apology" Later, but only After the "damage" was done and well instilled in people's minds

"Wishful Thinking perhaps" ?

Typical tactics, it seems the MSM tried similar tactics after the Tuscon shootings (Gabby Giffords) in January 2011.

Politico --
7/20/12 11:11 AM EDT

ABC News and Brian Ross are apologizing for an "incorrect" report that James Holmes, the suspect in the Colorado theater shooting, may have had connections to the Tea Party.

"An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect," ABC News said in a statement. "ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted."

In a similar statement released minutes earlier, ABC News said the report was "incorrect" but did not include the apology. "Several other local residents with similar names were also contacted via social media by members of the public who mistook them for the suspect," the initial statement read......

Politico Story

Breitbart had fun with this .... (20 Jul 2012, 6:03 AM PDT)

On Good Morning America, ABC News' Brian Ross and George Stephanolpoulos suggested that the Tea Party might be connected to the mass shootings early this morning in an Aurora, CO theater during a screening of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. The mainstream media attempted to blame the Tea Party for the Tuscon shootings in January 2011, shortly after Republicans swept the midterm elections. Now, in the critical 2012 elections, the mainstream media seems poised to do the same--and ABC News has led the way. ...... [continues]

Breitbart Take

the story has quotes from the ABC broadcast.

"Psychological" reporting with "Hidden" messages ?

One more observation:

The "suspect" has reportedly "booby-trapped" his apartment.
Trip wires, liquids in bottles, incendiary devices etc.

Authorities say they will send in a robot to "see".

But...the TV news is showing firemen breaking windows.
Firemen, not the bomb squad ?

What is "Odd" ?

What if the windows were also "booby-trapped"

How did they know the windows were so "safe"

Hmmm.

Well at least they apologized and corrected their error. Something that Fox News nor Your beloved Brietbart ever do and they are constantly pumping the disinfo.

So apparently you can't point out liberal hypocrisy anymore. So much for free speech. You can't criticize ATS's for advertising either.

If FOX NEWS HAD DONE THIS LIBERALS WOULD BE ALL OVER IT WHINING ABOUT FOX NEWS.

But ABC gets a free pass at it.

Horse chit.

That was a disgraceful move by ABC to even speculate without vetting their info. It doesn’t matter that they have apologized because the damage is done. How many dumb sheeple heard that today and are telling all of their friends about it right now? The seed was planted and it will grow in certain circles.

What they did was intentional and irresponsible but I would expect nothing more from ABC!

Meh…

That is exactly my point.

IMO, they had the "error" all figured out and scripted ahead of the actual "news flash".

They planned the whole thing as soon as they "confirmed" the names were the same.

They planned the whole thing in a conference war room.

very clever

No Fox news would get alot less criticism for correcting their mistakes. Yes it would be nice to get the news error and biased free on all sides of it. However people are emotional creatures and their personal bias will color anything they report on and people make mistakes. It is just being responsible to address those errors.

Wow the mainstream media outlets are dangerous these days.
There should be fines for incidences like these. Perhaps people should lose jobs as well.

Hadn't heard about the shootings, some people also said that the shooter was military

Yeah Fox News could not get away with that ABC news?

They did blame the TPM in Gifford's shooting typical scapegoat of the leftist's.

I cant believe he did that.

That sort of speculation is what weirdos on the internet do. Like us.

Not what a professional journalist does. And definitely not announcing it live on national television without any supporting evidence other than "some guy had a tea party page in 2011 with the same name."

That's just sad.

Been watching the news for the last 30 minutes about the shooting, and the only thing i know for sure is 70+ people were shot, 12 were killed.

Totally messed up.

Get ready for the assault on the second amendment and more support for the UN small arms treaty.

So is this guy an Alex jones Fan? I wonder... I bet he was on ats. I looked for his reason as soon as the first report came out. I am sure he has a message some where on the internet.

Check this out the White House flag is flying at half mast did they do that for Brian Terry or all those people who have died from the Guns in Fast and Furious, and the 50,000 Mexican nationals who died from their gun dealing?

Seriously "never letting a crisis go to waste" get read for tougher gun laws it is definately coming between the Gifford Shooting,The Colorado shootings. and FAF.

One thing all those have in common is that they were staged events. For the very purpose of tougher gun laws leading to an outright ban.
