Hunt for Assad is on amid claims of wife's exit to Russia

Although the president made a brief appearance on state television yesterday to swear in his new Defence Minister, Fahad Jassim al-Freij, whose predecessor was killed in the Damascus blast that took out several top regime officials, state television did not say where or when the footage was filmed.

The president's first public appearance since the attack will, however, allay suspicions that the president was himself injured.

Update on current events in Syria

Congruent with the enclosed stratfor analysis (see link above), the events in Syria are now rapidly deteriorating to a point where any news on the current status quo are hard to verify, as the fierce battle between FSA units and the SAF, are seemingly taking place on so many locations.

One thing is sure though, everyone in the Intel community is looking at how well Assad can handle the remaining command structure, especially with the recent costly death of Assad´s head of intelligence, Hisham Ikhtiyar. According to Al Jazeera, Hisham Ikhtiyar died from the severe wounds he caught (lost both legs) from the high yield blast in the conference room.

These scenes are early reminding of Hitler´s last days in the bunker and the chaos ensuing around him as the russian forces were storming the city core from all fronts.

ETA of the coming fall of Damascus is now revised to 14 days +/-7 days depending on the coming mass defection of low rank officers from SAF and what remains from the other branches of the Assad military apparatus.

You're wrong, thankfully.

Syria is not going to fall like Libya, and unfortunately anyone who thinks that is seriously deluded.

All that will happen is that a few more million innocent people will be massacred and destroyed, and the US arms dealers will show healthy profits for your economy. But never in 2 weeks ... for the military guys on here, you're about to fight the first real army in over 60 years. Good luck with that.

Iraq was not a real army? Weren't they like the 5th largest in the world?

Yea I'd be more concerned about facing a hardened force that for the past 12 solid years straight have been fighting in urban desert combat...

It's all been practice for something Syria is just one more bump.

For Good or Ill there is no doubting what the US and NATO have become...

I hope russia has forced Assad to surrender as a counter to a NATO invasion, as no matter how "real" the Syrian army is the populace would lose no mater how it went

Except in this analogy the head grows backas either a NATO, Russia or Muslim brotherhood puppet, who will show just as much regard for the wants of the people as the previous head...

Are you paid by the hour? No offense. Because thats what it looks like.

The claims that claims of wife's exit to Russia is fasle sounds to me that the rebel supporters are getting quiet desperate.

If the mods want they can move this to off topic.

I honestly don't believe that and why? for the past 24 hours ago there has been a lot of twitter rumors which arent true at all and yet the white house is following the rumors on twitter and yes from twitter.

Most of the rebel claims on twitter have been proven false.

Lol, so who needs the CIA or any Intelligence assets when there is twitter?
Whatever is said on twitter has no bearing on the real world whatsoever, it is just a reflection of the uninformed opinions out there.

The Guardian

Syria's intelligence chief, Hisham Bekhtyar, has died of wounds suffered in a bombing on Wednesday that killed three other senior security officials in President Bashar al-Assad's inner circle, state television said on Friday.
