Hey folks - first thread here in a while.

So I ended up on the weird side of Youtube and came across something spectacular. It's from 2007. I also did a search and found nothing. I also posted it in Medical Issues & Conspiracies (just minus the conspiracy) because I had no idea where else this could go. With that said...

This kid is amazing. I wonder if he can teach other blind people how to do echo-location.

Awesome story, and I'm only at the beginning of the second video:

Damn it! He died apparently from the same cancer that was responsible for the loss of his sight. It says in the comments around the third video and by the fifth it seems apparent - I noticed this as I was assembling this thread by retrieving the Youtube video numbers. I'm going to Google him right now.

In the meantime, still enjoy what seems to be a great documentary and a talent/aid that can be taught to the blind.

Yeah, he died. R.I.P.

www.benunderwood.com...

He had so much potential - more than a person WITH sight had!

Still, the implications in a human using echo-location are interesting.

Don't forget Daredevil........always thought the potential skill was awesome, especially how the movie portrayed it to us 'see'ers'
