Iran Named to Group Overseeing U.N. Arms Treaty Conference; ‘Like Choosing Bernie Madoff to Police

This is ironic and definitely "unexpected" to say the least.

I wonder who made this "decision" ?

(CNSNews.com) – Iran has been chosen as a member of the “bureau” overseeing a month-long United Nations conference in New York aimed at finalizing a controversial global “arms trade treaty.”

The move, which came as the conference got underway last week but received virtually no attention, is the latest example of Iran taking up leadership positions at the United Nations despite its defiance of Security Council resolutions relating to its nuclear program.

Furthermore, according to an expert panel monitoring U.N. sanctions on Iran, Tehran continues to flout a Security Council ban on exporting its weaponry, with Syria the main recipient.......(story continues)

Talk about the height of hypocrisy. We complain about Iran supplying weapons to Syria but we say nothing about America supplying weapons to the rebels. The best thing to do is for everyone to get out of Syria and let them solve their own problems.

Maybe we should just let the US and israel manage the global arms treaty, It's not like they would want to bend the rules in their favour at all.
If it was down to israel i think we would see a clause making all illegally held nuclear weapons made legal, but, for israel only.

Though Iran shouldnt be on the committee according to your reasoning that they sell arms, neither should any of the five permanent members or a huge host of other countries.

i think the only fair thing is everyone should be allowed arms including nuclear weapons, heck i think it would only be right if the U.S sells 50 nukes to every country that wants them, that should make us a lot safer, and stop the whining over who is and isn't allowed them.

Funny how no one says much when the US and its bestest allies are running the show, there's never anything shocking or new. Maybe its time to take another look at the whole process, its starting to get interesting.
