Flashes of light in the sky

Setting : Sunday 07/01/2012, 7:30 ish p.m., Southern California, clear weather.

I was watching TV with a buddy, and was surprised by three consecutive bright flashes of light that seemed to come from outside. We both looked at each other and went WTF? There was no thunder. I had no lights on indoors other than the TV. It was way brighter than the flickering of the boob tube.

My son called out at the same time from the bathroom. There are no windows in the bathroom, and the door was closed. He said he was surprised when the lights flickered three times.

I'm truly scratching my head here.



Anybody else live in So Cal who saw it also?

Conjecture is welcome here.

Don't be alarmed I've seen the same flashes in Melbourne Australia also have witnesses to verify well maybe be alarmed I don't know what they where but a lot has been happening over Melbourne sky's the last 2months.

Well it was pretty weird.

I was expecting thunder, but it never came.

Fireworks? The 4th of July is in 2 days, y'know

I 2nd that. They make some amazing fireworks these days. And even if it is illegal in your area, that has never stopped anyone in the past.

Sure. The timing with the light's flickering,and no corresponding noise is what gets me though.

they're not fire works! im from Australia and i seen the flashes about a month back might be a satilite taking a photo? who knows?
