Sounds like the UK is getting the weather we typically get this time of year in the American Midwest. Humid, massive thunderstorms, then cool and dry. Rinse, repeat.

Pro tip: If the sky turns green, head for shelter. That's a tornado sky. Ditto for a large wall of dark clouds.

We've got a major drought and are more than 8 inches down on rain here. It was 106 F yesterday. This isn't our normal weather either. We typically have 60-80% humidity, for the last 3 months, less than 30%. We typically run about 80-87F this time of year...we're having a two week run of 90+. The weird has become the norm. The scary thing about the conditions here in the States is that the entire Corn Belt is having this drought. Look for food prices to go through the roof next year. Fuel too, at least here, because of the ethynol boondoggle. *sigh*

So anyway.....you folks over there want to trade?

Alright....don't know which one of you did it, but thank you!! Yesterday afternoon and again last night we got severe thunderstorms through here for the first time this spring/summer. Over an inch of rain and it even cooled it down 25 degrees for a bit. So whichever one of you magical Britons sent that storm my way...thank you!

I know that this storm must have been unnerving if it had never been experienced before. In the Southeastern US, where temps reach over a 100 and humidity reaches 90+...we see these storms every afternoon in the summer, and even spring. They can be intense...winds, never-ending thunder, lightning, torrential rain, hail, flash flooding and the most scary of all, tornados...they are often short lived, but I've seen clusters of "popcorn" storms last for hours. It seems that your country is experiencing weather akin to our region and physics is just taking over.

These storms are deadly, there are no bones about that, but this is not an act of God, or Ancient Aliens...nor HAARP. This is a heatwave, albeit, a very intense and widespread one. Just take care and take cover when these storms pop up...take care of your pets and elderly and infirm during these hot and stormy days.

Lightning strikes, falling trees, and downed power lines account for most deaths during this type of weather...so don't tempt fate and play outside during these storms.
