Syria shoots down Turkish F4 fighter plane

Earlier, eyewitnesses in the northern Syrian town of Latakia told BBC Arabic that Syrian air defences shot down an unidentified aircraft near the town of Ras al-Baseet.

Relations between Turkey and Syria, once close allies, have deteriorated sharply since the uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011.

It's about bloody time Syria did something.

The FSA is based along the Syrian-Turkey border and Turkey had refused to search the refugee camps.

Looks like Syria is lashing out like a cornered animal. It's only a matter of time before it escalates and Syria starts firing off that chemical weapon stockpile.

Syria has fomally apologized for the incident.
