Just saw this has breaking news on Al jazeera

We know how close the saudis are to the US and Israel
Will Syria be accused ?
Like Iran was accused by the butched asssination on a Saudi ambassador

Saudi Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has died, a State Department official told CNN on Friday.

There were no more immediate details about his death.

Crown Prince Sultan, 81, was the deputy minister of aviation and defense, and was one of the top figures in the Saudi kingdom. He's had various medical issues in recent years.

In 2009, he was in New York for surgery for an undisclosed illness. At the time, there was speculation that he had been suffering from a serious illness.

Give it another 30 years and all the "old boys" of the current elite class generation will be biting the dust.

Good riddance...

edit: too add I'm not saying this guy was some sort of elite scum bag, I don't really know who he was. If he was a good guy then my words above are certainly not directed towards him.

Surely, there's enough corrupt people to take the place of the weirdos!

Hope they dont twist its dead for a Syria push

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - The Saudi royal family says Crown Prince Nayef has died in a U.S. hospital. He was in his late 70s.

Saturday's statement from King Abdullah says the prince will be buried Sunday but gave no more details.

Nayef was the hard-line interior minister who spearheaded Saudi Arabia's fierce crackdown crushing al-Qaida's branch in the country and then rose to become next in line to the throne.

Geez, not everything is a conspiracy.. The guy has a medical history and is getting up there in age. It's too early to even speculate imo

If they were gonna push it, wouldn't they have said ...

He died of unknown causes and that it could be a killing?

By saying he was ill and old they have tied that loop hole.

Not saying they can't still twist it!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to take the government's side ... I wouldn't ... EVER!

Just an opinion!

Hmm better wait till more facts come out till I start drawing conclusions, he was fairly old however.

Got the king and the prince mixed up for a moment, got my heart racing because as I understand there are some serious hard line Islamic fundamentalists that would love to take over and probably attempt a coup. Bit off topic but Saudi Arabia is another serious flash point to keep an eye on.

He died in the US? I wonder what he thinks of us now? Now that his eyes have been opened? Now that he becomes aware of the role he played as a puppet to one of the most corrupt evil empires on the face of the planet?

I hope he enjoys his hot seat...

I see the angle but as far as I know, the americans and saudis are allies. Unless of course, that has changed

from your link...

Nayef's death unexpectedly reopens the question of succession in this crucial U.S. ally and oil powerhouse for the second time in less than a year.

The 88-year-old King Abdullah has now outlived two designated successors, despite ailments of his own

Now a new crown prince must be chosen from among his brothers and half-brothers, all the sons of Saudi Arabia's founder, Abdul-Aziz.

The figure believed most likely to be tapped as the new heir is Prince Salman, the current defence minister who previously served for decades in the powerful post of governor of Riyadh, the capital. The crown prince will be chosen by the Allegiance Council, an assembly of Abdul-Aziz's sons and some of his grandchildren.

----------------------------------------------

Prince Salman might well indeed wear the Crown...likely crowned on Dec 21st, 2012
he might be the world leader that is anticipated in prophetic writings...
eerily his name is very close to the historical Saliman, who was believed to be a 'twelver
Prince Salman might just be a radical 'Twelver' or Wahhabi

interesting times
