The good news is insurance companys have come up with a way for you to save more on your insurance.
The bad news is it could cost you more , a lot more.
Progressive insurance is leading the way for the insurance industry to not only track you with GPS, but to monitor your driving from the minute you enter your car to the minute you leave it.
This new program will record your every action and forward it to insurance companys and law enforcement.
Things like do you use your seat belt ?
Your speed at all times .
Do you make complete stops ?
Do you use your turning lights ?
Do you go through a yellow light ?
Do you tailgate ?
Do you stop in a crosswalk ?
Do you weave in and out of traffic ?
Right now this program is not manditory but be aware what your insurance companys offer you .
And understand the full extent of the effects of this program.

I can't agree with you more. This isn't the first but it shows how deep it going. Most people think that if they can save $50 and give up their privacy, its ok cause you saved $50. They don't see the big picture and what is coming down the pike in a few years. Same thing with OnStar, and that you actually have to pay for because you might lock your keys in the car some day. Privacy is a thing of the past and unless you are "invisable" you are being subject to constantly being watched.

Yeah I spoke to a fiend of mine about this when Progressive announced it. He actually tried to tell me it would only track accidents, lol like a impact meter. But the progressive trackers are just the beginning.

These little plug in devices have been around for about 2 years to my knowledge. I've known people to use them after they got a ticket to make their insurance go down.

Its absolutely crazy. GPS is already tracking us, but soon I see this crazy device becoming mandatory in all newly built vehicles. I give it 6 years. Time to buy that 1983 model car before they are all smashed for metal.

Big brother is getting bigger.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that a person has a right to liiteed privacy in thier vehicles.. This would be similar to insurnace companies wanting to monitor what a person does in their own home to combat home insurance claims / fire claims / etc etc etc.

Privacy concerns will prevent this from becoming required and for a change I would support the ACLU.

I have Progressive and have for about 10yrs. If they even try and tell me they will require this in the future then they will be out the door! They are not cheap and I only have basic FL law required insurance and it costs me $120 a month!

So far I am happy with Progressive but this is absolutely none of their business!

What's next a monitor on your body for health insurance companies to monitor your food intake and exercise regime!?

The point is if you, of your own free will accept and join, you surrender you rights.
Like any big brother program like GPS, micro chipping and homeland security check points, right now it is your choice to participate, and when you do you also agree to play by their rules.

Now That's Progressive: Insurance Exec Honored For Movement Support

www.ourfuture.org...

Most people know Progressive Insurance from its quirky commercials, starring a character named Flo who staffs the checkout counter at an supermarket that sells insurance in neatly labeled boxes. But the leaders of the nation's leading progressive activist organizations know Progressive Insurance's chairman of the board, Peter B. Lewis, for another kind of insurance: vital financial support for the kind of activism that enables the movement to fight the right in Washington and beyond.

I don't care how cheap their insurance might be. It won't be mine.
