Turns out that Stuxnet was a offshoot of Flame which was recently discovered. Flame had been in those computers for years, but it was not destructive. It was used to gain information from infected computers instead of locking them up like Stuxnet did to the Nuclear plants last year.

There has been a lot of discussion about WHO the originator of Stuxnet was, but this seems to point to the USA as the most likely author of Flame and Israel as the author of Stuxnet.

It came out that it was the US and Israel who created stuxnet. Then the Republicans tried to blame the White House for the leak. So now it looks like the US created both worms.

Flame is designed to spy on people through their windows based computers by capturing screen shots and audio.

I find it highly brilliant that they have been embedding code in routine equipment for some time now. I mean, who buys a mouse or a keyboard and thinks to have it "scanned" for malicious code? No one would have even THOUGHT about that previously.... However, that is how the new level of cyber spy was able to get access into "closed, off grid" networks. A regular, modern day trojan horse.
