What I find funny is how Shabaab are suddenly an "off shoot" of the formally CIA assisted and Saudi funded al Qaeda that was deployed against the Soviets in Afghanistan.

Comments like the one above are the comments that make me hate ATS at times.

First of all its al-Shabaab or to give it its full name Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahedeen not simply “Shabaab”. Also, It didn’t suddenly become an off-shot of al-Qa’ida, the two have had a close relationship reportedly in recent years and in February this year the leader of al-Shabab relased a video aimed at the al-Qa’ida leader Al-Zawahiri announcing the formal merger of the two groups. It seems to be more of a symbolic alliance however there is little to say that core al-Qa’ida (or what’s left of it) has any direct operational control over al-Shabaab.

Also, al-Qa’ida never received any help form the CIA or funding from Saudi to be deployed against the Sovites, al-Qa’ida wasn’t formed until 1988 when the Soviets had announced their withdrawal and its aim was to launch the future of the “jihad”, it had nothing really to do with the Soviets. The predicesor to al-Qa’ida, Maktab al-Khindamat may have had some support form the Saudi’s and possibly the CIA but that group was not al-Qa’ida it was a totally different organization with very different aims and members.

Al Shabaab is the third part of the now defunct Islamic Courts Union that ruled Somalia between June and December of 2006.

the other two parts of the ICU are the current Government of Somalia.

Shabaab formed an alliance with Al Qaeda sometime after the collapse of the ICU government by divine intervention on December 27, 2006.

and they abandoned Mogadishu last August; following the failed attempt to destroy the House of Mighty Men on July 19, 2011.

now they are in the Land of Nod...as is anyone that still believes in them.

and since they've revealed that they still have at least 10 Camels and 20 Chickens...a special operations force will be dispatched to Somalia to take that from them as well.

You are correct but they didn’t official declare their alliance until February of this year, I must say good post though.

Maybe Shabaab Kabob can ask Johnnie Carson, assistant Secretary of State for African affairs, where is Obama and Clinton; they all work together.

And the beauty of it is I will start caring when they start caring. Until that time it is a 2 way road.

As far as insulting again I could care less.. When they start caring and understand respect is a 2 way road, and they earn it, then maybe I will care and attmept to earn their respect.

Until such time the Radical Islamic religion decides to acknowledge and act like its the 21st century and not the 9th, then I will continue to exercise my right to free speech guaranteed to me as well as abide by the T and C of this site since its private and tell them what I think.

If they have issues with that they have 2 choices -
Discuss / debate in a reasonble manner, recognizing my right to my own opinion and me recognizing their right to theirs and attempt to find common ground..

or...

Take their chances and come at me in their radical tradition of killing those who dont agree.

If they are willing to part with this many animals they obviously haven't done their due diligence. It's a rather bull market in their eyes, I guess. They should shut off the main stream media before they lose the farm!

I don't think 20 chickens is anywhere near a fair price of Hillary, personally. I could buy a live chicken in NSW for $5 each. So the collective value of that bounty is $20. It'd cost considerably more than that, just to get through her security.
