Do the people around us need to be told what to think?

Quite a simple question. Throughout all history I have knowledge of, the majority are simply followers, run by a small group of leaders usually decided by blood. Everything they knew and believed in was decided by the small group.

Is that all they are? Basically small minded individuals that couldn't gain knowledge without receiving it?

Then, if the leaders are the elite, and the sheep are the sheep, then who are we? Seer's?

You might want to do some research on the authoritarian personality - it fits with what you are describing.

I'm not really describing anything. I'm asking whether or not the sheep will be sheep even if I tried to free them.

I think some people HAVE to be followers. The stress of trying to go their own way, of forging their own 'destiny', is too much for them.

Ignorance is bliss. Think about how angry/scared most people seem to be these days because of all the insanity in the world around them. 100 years ago, before radio/television/Internet, you didn't know what was going on the next county, much less around the world. Ever hear your grandparents mention about how people used to be nicer and happier when they were growing up in the '40's and such? Now, in the age of immediate information we see just how very ugly and scary our world can be.

If you were to take a poll of say, 1000 people, I have no doubt that a good 700 or more would rather not know what is going on around them... they would rather be ignorant and happy in their little bubble.. than know about a crazed man in Miami, or a genocide in Syria, or the economy of Europe collapsing.

In short, I think you are correct. I think there are many out there that cannot operate outside of the system and fear a world bigger than what they know in their everyday travels.

Take a look at the headlines around the world...thank you very much but I think we have had about as much unsolicited help we can handle. Better yet, ask any country we went to bring democracy too and ask them if they would like some more "help".

The many are "followers" because the information required to be a leader, or an individual, is hidden and hoarded by the few. The few that have always, and, most likely, always will rule. The people who choose not to seek truth are the ones who are limited by their infinite trust in human kindness; their belief that man is not capable of evil, at least those in power who "care about them".

However, my mother is a nurse, and one thing she always tells me is that when people become aware that they are days away from dying, they instantly realize what has been going on. This is the moment when grandpa says "don't worry about going to college or getting the job your parents want, do what makes you happy. This is all that matters". The biggest thing they take from us is time, but I also believe that this world may possibly be a necessary lesson to be learned for future lives, assuming that there is a spirit evolution process, and we are not confined to this planet and these living conditions.

To OP.

The answer is NO. You will NEVER succeed in making anyone think, simply because each has one's own mind. The more you force, the more they will resist, and you will only end up being the bad guy even if your message is good.

Authoritarians and tyrants, such as those unconscionable rich elites, China CCP gov and Putin, succeeds only because they FORCE others to not only think, but to think that only their masters are right - at gunpoint.

So either you value your life and shut up, be a sheep, and leave all other thinking to them, or voice out and be a dead human.

What you a human can do and succeed instead is to SHARE what you do know, to discuss and debate, to change others or be changed. Never force anyone, for each has their own free will to decide for their own future, for change of the better, or to remain with the status quo and doom themselves and their future generations.
