Should mods ban users who post fake stories?

Topic after topic of fake stories like that girl that can start fires with her brain is just silly at this point. Users should be forced to post 110% proof or face ban.

-Ban users that post sympathy topics that don't tell the complete truth
-Ban users that post fake stories
-Ban users that won't stop talking about politics because we all know each politician is pretty much the same. They will always kiss minorities and feminists butt to gain votes. All they need to do is show high levels of masculinity to gain the white male votes. Then they all go onto say how they will blah blah blah to change America, but nothing good ever comes from it.

I myself may have to become a mod so I can ban 70% of this site. ATS needs law, structure and order for the better. With that said, it's time we start a NEW group of mods. I call these new shadow group mods the Illusive Ones composed of the most logical yet ruthless ATS users.

^That quote above is my main goal. To stimulate and control the evolution of ATS. You ATS people have done nothing but abuse your freedom. You don't deserve to be free! My new group of mods The Illusive-Ones will guide this forum to an evolution beyond your comprehension.

If everyone had to provide 100% proof, this site would be practically, if not completely empty.
It would die on it's feet.

ATS needs laws, structure and order? It has structure and order and rules, aka guidelines, wouldnt call them laws. But we also have good mods. For the fake stories, some posters do not know if a story is 100% true or false, as you dont either, but they are still posted for opinion and discussion to determine so. Think about UFO videos, so many left up to interpretation. If you dont like a certain thread or find it offensive, dont read it, or click the alert button and move on.

Many posts on here are, basically, the latest set of results, etc, from various experiments. As more testing can alter these results null and void, i do not see any way around this.

This also goes for breaking news, etc. A story is reported, posted on here and then more info becomes available that shows the initial reports were way off the mark.

Well it has that with the T & C , and enforced by mods. Sure some of the mods may get power hungry and abuse , and take out their bad day on some member , But majority of them are on the ball.

Now alot of people who post fake stories post them , because they are not sure if its truth or not . So they put it on here for it to be cleared up by other members who know.

Secondly the stars and flags , help filter out most of the fake stories out , which leaves he fake ones to fade away.

You don't wanna get into censorship , what happens when a fake story turns out to be true later on ? and you ban that member , everyone makes mistakes

we are here to learn together , share , inform and try and deny ignorance to the best of our abilities :p

The stories come on here to be vetted. And no matter how skeptical I am of certain stories, if the person is posting in general curiosity, there is no reason they shouldn't be able to do so.

There really are people out there that believe others can start fire with their minds. It's up to the rational people to point out why this can or cannot happen.

People come on here to find sense in their views/stories, yes some users do come up with stories just to get
attention ... But that's just how humans are... Some lie and some try to find sense.

You can't run a conspiracy site without someone making up stories, lying, predicting, telling the truth etc.

However, if someone is so enraged by such users then one should not join or visit ATS. That's just a thought.

OP if things annoy you so much that banning is the only option you can come up with, then I guess this site is clearly not for you.

I'll have sections for transhumanism the fusion of human and machine. People can learn about just how safe it is to get chip implants. Better chat rooms, white cloud like background (ATS is too bland), Movie uploading and stream interface and much much more. Also like to add a cloud storage and pay plus service.

Determining what is true and accurate is not always an easy task and often requires extensive inquiries to make a determination.
When truth cannot determined it is policy to allow such stories to remain, otherwise they are labeled as (HOAX).

How are you going to tell if they are fake stories? Having a different and contradictory belief in something is not necessarily a fake story. One of the biggest problems in discussing things with people is that far too many people assume what is true for them must be true for everybody and cannot even consider the possibility that in one case it may be true and in another it could not.

Wow Alyssa, There seems to be a lot of penned up anger in your OP. I am going to assume that this is not coming from a person who was banned already and has set up a new account in order to express that anger. I am also going to assume that you are a "NEWBEE" to this site and ask you, Do you honestly believe that this site was created a decade ago and allowed to grow in whatever fashion it wanted in wait for you to begin your membership and fix things?

I understand some frustration comes with an open forum such as this site is, but your statements seem to be a bit far removed from that to me(including comments you have made in other posts). All is not lost though. The internet is big enough for you to go to a hosting company(I am partial to one as it is free to set up and get started with many many features including multiple choices of chat boxes that you can change the backgrounds of and the ability to purchase the site when it gets big enough) and create your site the way you want it and run it the way you want it. Then you could be the owner instead of just a mod and you can pick and choose the best mods for your agendas. Wouldn't that be fun?

Now, I do understand how you could have come to the point you are at. I see people trolling and engaging in baseless arguments and such, but hey, that's part of having an open forum and we either live with it or move on. It is really that simple. Yah I have written some rants in my day about posters on this site, in fact I wrote on just the other day, but to come at the community as a whole with censorship and dictatorship is not the answer nor will it ever be. That is not what this site is about, but like I said if you were to create a site, set under your own guidelines, that may be what your site would be about and it could work for you. Personally, it would not work for me and that is what makes this, ATS, a great site. The ability to speak our mind the way we see fit, while following the rules previously set forth, and the expectation, should we stray from those rules, to be punished or banned.

Thank you for your opinion and posting what some people really feel like on this site, But I feel I should warn you. Because you have written this thread, the way you did, I would be very very careful as to what you post from here on out or you will be, knowing some members on this site, held to this standard. Never forget your links to 110% proof or stories that may be true today, but when new evidence comes out, proven to be false. Pay attention to non sequiturs within stories and don't post them if they exist, etc., etc., etc.. By writing this you have asked this community to scrutinize every word you type, which can, in effect, make your visits to this site worse than you perceive it to be already.

Because you did not write an introduction thread, I would like welcome you to ATS at this juncture.
