NORFOLK, Va. -- After three years in custody, Yaser Esam Hamdi finally got to call his parents and watch some television. But he's still waiting to
go home.
Hamdi, a U.S. citizen captured on an Afghanistan battlefield, wants to return to Saudi Arabia, where he grew up, and Secretary of State Colin Powell
says he expects U.S. and Saudi authorities will be able to resolve differences to make that happen.

Although, Hamdi was supposed to be released on Thursday, it is not known why there has been a delay. It is now being reported that Sunday will be the
earliest day for Hamdi's release. There was allegedly a "snag" in discussion with Saudi officials.
The Supreme Courts decided that President Bush could not hold wartime combatants without trial or charges. There were no charges brought against
Hamdi, although he will not be permitted to leave Saudi Arabia for 5 years, or enter the United States for 10 years. When his 10 year denial of
admission into the US is over, he will then need special permission to enter the US.
The Saudi government believes that Hamdi should be released without any rules because he did not break the law. They are calling the deal
"unenforceable."
