question about face book

mods please move this thread if in the wrong forum,thanx.
my question is : how do i stop getting email from every post that happens on facebook?
its really annoying!
i'm not a big facebook person,i mainly use it to chat with my kids,girlfriend and my mom.
but i keep getting emails everytime a new facebook post is made,mostly from people i don't even know commenting on people i do know posts!
is there a way i can 'shut it off' from my email?
damn,when i do go on face book,the notifications tell me someone posted something.
i don't need an email to tell me as well!
if any one can help,it would be appreciated.

i do wait for important emails,and it drives me crazy when i check and its only face book crap!

Um...thats what FACEBOOK does! Wait...more and more stuff and nonsense will be coming your way from them. Expect it.
