"The public interest group Freedom Watch today filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia charging the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries ("OPEC") with illegal price fixing and market division by artificially inflating crude oil prices."

FreedomWatchUSA.com

The 12 countries that constitute OPEC specifically and intentionally limit barrels of oil that each country produces, which has caused price to reach nearly $120 a barrel, the complaint alleges.

"This amounts to illegal price fixing and market division in violation of antitrust laws," charges Freedom Watch Founder Larry Klayman.

The lawsuit further charges some of the massive profits generated by illegal price fixing are used by some members of OPEC like Iran, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela to finance terrorism and further anti-democratic agendas.

Price fixing and cartels are not illegal abroad and US jurisdiction does not extend to OPEC countries. The crude is bought by US companies abroad and what deals are struck in the spot market has no bearing on US anti-cartel laws.

I am going to have to agree. While I applaud their cause, it will not accomplish anything.

They can sue all they want, they may even win. But OPEC will probably not even acknowledge it.

In fact, if they do win OPEC may raise the cost of oil to the US out of spite.

As trial attorney of Antitrust Division, Klayman participated in breaking up AT&T and now he and Freedom Watch are prepared to do what no government agency is doing or has ever done, which is taking on OPEC

and griping about is doing better?

Lets watch and see what happens here!!!

The way these people are going to play it is by lobbying US law makers to declare American antitrust laws trans-national. Once they succeed, they will then identify OPEC countries' interests in the US and sue to take possession.

Klayman is a zionist of Jewish origin who has become a Born Again Christian. Basically he is on the right of Attila the Hun and the expression of "bull in a China shop" is a fitting description. This man sued numerous politicians, companies and even an organisation he founded.

Even more telling, the Palestinians had a Facebook page about the Third Intifada and Klayman sued Facebook for not being quick enough in taking it down.
